It was pointed out to me that the link above is dead. So, here's the new one. Same hat, and as Art originally corrected, the felt color is "granite" not "steel".

Even though my Art Fawcett collection has grown...
Art will gladly work with you to come up with what you want. Some people here have spent months and many coversations working toward the perfect hat concept. Others have just left Art to whip up something new. I've seen some unusual designs, but I have yet to see an ugly hat leave Art's...
An addictive compound worked into the leather sweatband. Odorless and colorless, it is one of the most addictive substances in the world. It leeches out of the leather while being worn, but as the amount lessens, the wearer craves more. Unconsciously, the wear realizes that this high can come...
From what I've seen, only the sewn welt brims are available, and generally not on the best of hats. Art does not do the welts, but he does great work with a ribbon binding.
Also, search for the new Stetson Windham. It's an interesting hat, but very tapered crown. Not the best for a...
I also had that happen - one from Art, another was a vintage. A touch of steam, as cooncat suggests. You could also pop the dents out of the crown and put a t-shirt in it for a couple of days after you steam it. Then reshape gently by hand. The brim wrinkles, if they're bad, might benefit...
Welcome to the Lounge Josh. It sounds like you have a keeper. If it fits. If not, I'm sure somebody here would take it off your hands. Strat's are discussed frequently here.
As far as I know, Borso only has one 100% beaver hat, and I think it's called the Beaver. And it's like $400 or something.
I'm adicted to Art's hats. At this point, the main reason I own anything other that a VS (or an AB Indy) is because I need more variety than my wallet will...
Hands down, zero doubt, no question - get an Art Fawcett. Borso's have a reputation of being hit-or-miss with quality, and finding the right model is a pain. Art will work to get you exactly what you want, and quality will never be an issue. I know that he carries colors that would be to your...
Honestly, you could whatever you wanted. Technically, though, the Whippet is a fedora. So, this would be an open crown hat and the brim would usually be worn snapped down in front.
Beautiful specimen by the way, J.E.! I wish it was my size.
I prefer the feather on the Windham, so I kept mine. Although I trimmed it a little.
My main fear is the dye running. With a dark hat, it would be obvious, you know. So, with talk of Stetson using a powdered dye touch-up, and horror stories about black rings on people's heads, I don't...
Art is very good about keeping his word on wait times. If a VS hat ships late, there's a good reason. Of course, Mother Nature seems intent on providing lots of reasons as of late!
What I know is that (if the hats are ready) AB will be allowed to ship the hats on the day that the movie comes out - so you wouldn't have it in time for opening night. I also know that the shape will be true to the new movie hat. What I'm fairly confident I think I might possibly know, maybe...
Also, it's where we get a majority of our beef, milk, and cheese products... as well as the primary source for the rare-but-valuable Mad COW Disease. :D
Interesting side note... COW comes from the Indy film that takes place mostly in India. Spooky. Does that make COW e-holy ground?
OK...
