I have actually seen the new Federation IV in person, standard version in brown. The change in brim dimensions AND crown height maintained the right proportions to keep the overall "look" the same. The new block shape (a very old block found in storage) looks even more "vintage" than before...
Loved that. :eusa_clap
I was left slightly wanting in the picture arena, though. I want to know what all these different types look like... and where can I get some!
Let's see... it's a 2 3/4" brim with a wide binding, like the classic whippet. Unbashed, I think the crown is about 5 1/2". With bash, it's 4 3/4" in front and slopes to 3 7/8" in the back. Oh, and that fantastic ribbon is just a hair under 2".
For those wondering about the bash, Art put...
rrog; My current avatar is a vintage Adam Executive, which I recently won from Johnnyphi's auctiuons. Check out this thread for more pics, and more proud winners! http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=31275&page=5
Slim Portly; I have to say, I'm not to sure what a fob really is...
I also have only one, and I am part of the 7 1/2 crowd. This is the best chance many of us larger headed guys have ever had for vintage, let alone NOS! I would be quite happy with one more. Gray, preferably. I'm not greedy. :D
They have those?
It's just not a solution. There are so few actual hat stores left, and the only two I've known only have the boxes that come with a hat. Package deal.
As I understand it, the brim could be changed during a reblock (called reflanging), but it can also be done by hand in steps. I don't know if you'd want to try that. Otherwise, turned down brims shouldn't be that hard to find on a modern hat. Stetson and Miller carry numerous such hats...
Just look at the felt to be sure there are no rips or cracks. If not, the hat should be fine. This is a common problem with hats received by mail or UPS. Imagine getting a box like that with a $250 hat inside... that you waited 10 months for!
Alrighty Here's my official entry into the Johnnyphi Hat Club... and the inauguration of a new avatar.

Well, I'm not much of a show off, but when real craftsmen put there best effort into things, you have to make some noise. (Plus, I don't get to do this very often.)
I don't know that I can really narrow down what it is I'm showing off here, because I finally got to wear my two newest wardrobe...
Miller Hats represented a bulk of my original collection. I can confirm that the Miller brand hats are Biltmores, and as far as production hats go, they are nice. They lack the toughness of an Akubra, but they look dressier, and will hold up just fine as a dress hat. If you want something...
I just got my Adam Executive, and there's not enough light for pictures. I'll have to remedy that soon. All I can say is... I hope there are a few more left in my size! :D
By the by, mine reported a couple of moth nibbles in the auction. I can't even find them!
Thank you Johnny!
What I see is a jacket that appears to have been tailored for somebody else, possibly the same or close off-the-rack size. But when something is tailor made, the wrong differences can make clothing do strange things. Maybe he was simply forced to wear somebody else's jacket in a pinch?
