Hi
Check out this thread:

The Fedora Store uses Beaver Brand hats to do their customization on. I own a Beaver Brand hat, which I wear every other day, an 8X whatever that means. The hat is kind of stiff compared...
Hi
You MIGHT inquire as to the actual price. My wife went shopping with a friend who purchased a Movado watch for $2100 because it was "on sale". As far as I know, the wife didn't buy one too. Cheap is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Hi
Hatman Jack in Wichita KS has a larger selection of flat caps that he's had in the past. I haven't seen anyone wearing one yet, but he's sure stocked up for some reason. I didn't check brands or prices flat caps not being anything I wear or collect. Jack and the family work wonders on Sun...
Hi
If you do a search on re-enacting sites, Replicators doesn't have a stellar reputation. The guy's in India and has very little real clue about uniforms, EXCEPT for Jungle Green and Khaki Drill British (and obviously Indian Army) uniforms. He also uses the pictures from other uniform...
Hi
From reading Flags or Our Fathers, I seem to remember that the monument photograph of the flag raising was a hip shot (more or less). The Marines raised the flag before he raised the camera. The photographer didn't realize what he had at all, but the guys who developed it did. I would...
Hi
Wool shrinks A LOT, think grown woman's sweater to a Barbie sweater. This hat was a wool What Price Glory (WPG) British Bush hat (WW2). It shrunk about a half inch in crown and quite a bit in brim. If you plan on going inexpensive as a starter hat, get a Sun Body, or get a middle of the...
Hi
Before I'd buy a wool hat, I'd buy a Panama hat or a Sun Body (woven grass or something like that). Dobbs, Biltmore, and even Stetson make decent, inexpensive felt hats. Akubra's also have a great reputation. I have a wool hat that shrunk in the rain. It looks REALLY bad now.

Hi
Sam, I tried on the Silverbelly today at Jack's. The hat wasn't creased in the Diamond, but Brian took care of that in about 5 minutes. I picked a ribbon for the hat with a regular square bow, and the brim will be bound in the same color. It won't be done until January 13th 2012 though...
Hi
An old Military collecting site I was a member of (before it went under) had a lot of that kind of data. British? Try looking up "Coldsteam guards regimental insignia".

These guys have a LOT of stuff, but I haven't seen anything that is...
Hi
Those websites are EXAMPLES of what they can do, not a catalog. Basically, ask and you will receive. If you don't know what crown height and brim you want, send a picture wearing a hat where you've measured those sized.

Thanks Sam. I'll be swapping out the Duke hat with the Campaign hat for outdoor work. I have 3 felt fedoras to swap through too, so that's not a problem. If I handle with the brim, that should lessen the effects too.

Hi Sam
Sooooooo, I have a Silver Belly Resistol 20x in Jack's to have made into a John Wayne Cavalry hat. Should I ask that they soften the creases a little? I don't plan on buying another one.
Thanks
Hi Renault
The really funny part of all this sniper crap is that Gunny Hathcock used a store bought Winchester model 70 in .30-06 to do his work.
I always laugh at the extra Picatinny rails attached to the AR platforms. I want one with a laser, a flashlight, a harris bipod, and an...
Hi
It took me a year or two to work it out also. A 4 inch barreled 1911 (commander) is for carrying horizontal in a shoulder holster. I have a big enough chest and gut that I can hide a government model. I would prefer to carry them vertically though in which case it won't matter.

Hi
My Dad has been in bad health for a couple of years, finally dying in mid-August at 92. Mom is only 80, and was staying up pretty much 24/7 to make sure he was o.k. When he finally went to a nursing home, an emergency room doctor put Mom on Xanax, 4 a day. She took two before deciding...
