Any "new" old radios out there in Fedoraville?

Good idea. An Ipod nano wont take up much space and impedance matching will be no big problem.:) :) The early transistors used Germanium as the semiconductor. Once industry switched to Silicone, Germanium units were no longer manufactured. Voltages, currents, impedances etc are all different...

Any "new" old radios out there in Fedoraville?

Wow - I am unworthy...... Amazing radio's here. Here is my humble contribution borne of limited funds. I have picked them up over the years - no one seem to value these mid century items[huh]. I havent seen any about in a while, so perhaps things have changed. I have an early 50's...

Evolution of Colonial English Accents - Australia and New Zealand

I bet bogan juice tastes better wearing dandenong dinner shoes (moccasins). An old digger I know refers to rough wine as 'Stuka Juice' (great name for a cocktail). When he wants a beer, he says 'Its time for a Tarax'. 'I'm full as a country dunny' 'I'm dolly's wax' 'I'm full as a race...

Evolution of Colonial English Accents - Australia and New Zealand

I'm not sure this is true, but I'd heard somewhere that a lot of the strine accent had to do with not opening your mouth too widely lest the blowies get in. Sounded pretty silly to me, but then I remember the clouds of blowies last I was in the Mallee, so who knows. They are pretty ferocious...

Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

Tank... I listed a gruen 'tank' on eBay a while back. My auction was pulled and I got a terse letter about copyright protections. It appears that Cartier own the word Tank as it applies to wristwatches.

Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

Thanks Warbaby Good to know. This stuff can be hard to find when you need it, especially crystals for tank watches. Couple of years back I was picking over a watch parts supplier. He had a large tray of NOS dials, 50's & 60's Omega's mostly. There would have been a hundred or so, wrapped in...

Jacques Tati - Vacances De M Hulot - Cut?

I know Hulot had trouble with the deck chair, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't for 28 mins! There was a reason for the cuts, but it hinges on what the reasons were 'I have a feeling that the cut footage was a necessity' This is pure conjecture until both versions are viewed. 'I suspect...

    The Melbourne Club

I've been 'entertained' there And I'd gladly let it become an all woman establishment. Not that it matters, as the membership will become extinct at some point. Might make a nice boutique pub after that. I'd rather eat in a diner. Talbot

Jacques Tati - Vacances De M Hulot - Cut?

Thanks guys Going by the DVD feature length is a little misleading as sometimes they include the length of the trailers and special features. It sure bugs me to know there is a lot of one of my favorite films missing:( . I might try the blogs over at tativille. If I find anything I'll let...
