Ok, so some things in the golden era were not too cool...

Hi Feraud I had to look up Tolerate in an online dictionary just to see if it still meant "put up with something you don't like". Here's what I found: tol·er·ate /ˈtɒləˌreɪt/ Show Spelled[tol-uh-reyt] Show IPA verb (used with object), -at·ed, -at·ing. 1. to allow the existence...

Ok, so some things in the golden era were not too cool...

Hi Blackjack One of my co-workers was a political science major. He stated that Chicago was the most segregated, racist (and other ists) city in America. From what he said it wasn't just race, but also religion, country of national origin etc. This was 1982, but from what I saw it's...

All You Need to Know About Hat Etiquette

Hi From reading "Hatless Jack: The President, the Fedora, and the History of American Style" I believe that the hat check girl is one of the major downfalls of hat wearing. According to the book, each and every time you checked a hat, you had to give the girl a quarter. That's fine today...

Pictures of Heritage Hats in AZ

Hi Tony I kind of feel for Optimo, and the other guys who have storefronts. Big outlay, not much income which translates to less Beaver fur for more money. One thing that makes the storefront worth going to, is that at least SOME retailers (Hatman Jack is one), will give you an honest...

Um, doesn't that improve timing on the whole strip search thing? Of course, bringing the pipes probably takes a little longer... Later

    How to travel with hats

HI I've only traveled twice in 2011, but I used a few of those Rubbermaid tubs to put my stuff in. I think I'd just put the hat in its own tub, but in a clear plastic cover of some sort. I never thought of it before, but does the TSA consider hat wearing weirdo's to be security risks? :D Later

Well Tom, there COULD be three or four of them... Not sure how I'd be able to coach them though...

Ok, so some things in the golden era were not too cool...

Hi Rue From my limited personal experience, I really disagree with the first quoted statement. Granted, the Klan still exists in the South. I lived in Decatur AL from 1990 until the 3rd quarter of 1994, and I met 1 (ONE) Klan Member. He and the black teenager at the checkout line in Kroger...

    Show us your Guns!

HI Atticus According to Kansas Law, if you are not charged with a crime for killing someone, AND you have a Concealed Carry Permit, you CAN NOT be charged in civil court for wrongful death. Of course, that hasn't been tested yet and I sure hope it ain't my turn. Later

    Show us your Guns!

Hi One of the shooting instructors just finished his Concealed Carry class and said that if you leave it in the car, with the wife (who doesn't have a permit), then she's illegal. I think that basically you should have a holster on you somewhere for when you leave the car. I also have a...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Hi, Shark is great food, but unfortunately a lot of fishermen only take the fin for shark fin soup and dump the rest. Shark has more of a beef type texture than most fish. I grilled my own years ago and it's good. If I get to move to either Seattle or Alabama, I'll eat it more. Kansas just...

    How to travel with hats

Hi Don I supposed cutting down a dry cleaning bag and taping the edges would be a good alternative, but the rain hat covers are under $10.00. Kind of depends on what you think your time is worth, how soon you'll loose the rain hat cover, and how soon you'll rip the dry cleaning bag. [huh] Later

Pawn stars - john wayne hat

Hi That wasn't Harry "Take me out to the Ball Game" Carey either right? Duke's biography is a weird mix of greatness, great times, and sadness. For example, his accountant made him broke one year. Gotta love that. Later

    How to travel with hats

Hi I suggest buying a rain hat cover, but in a larger size than is recommended. The rain cover screwed up the bow on my Jaxonbilt because it was too tight. You don't really need a rain cover on a fur felt hat, but it keeps off the grease in the TSA's torture devices. I think that the dry...

Anybody have a large hat collection?

Wow, I'm impressed. I couldn't go that far. I bought three or four hats last year (2011), the Roughrider from Buckaroo Hatters, a Sunbody Roughrider from Hatman Jack, the Seattle Charcoal hat from Tumwater hats, and a Resistol that Hatman Jack is still finishing. I don't wear vintage because...

    Men who can cook.

Hi I learned on my own, and asked Mom and Grandma a few questions. I still don't cook casseroles, but then I don't care if I ever eat casseroles again anyway. I eat them when someone else cooks them, but I don't like them well enough to bother learning. I need to learn to make Potato soup...

    Show us your Guns!

Hi I find the laws about personal defense to be crazy. You can't legally just tell some guy, "Don't pi$$ me off, I have a .45.", because that's a threat, but if he acts stupid, I can legally kill him and then say I was sure he was going to kill me. The other part I find silly is that I have...

    Men who can cook.

Hi, this is the whole scout leader thing. Mommy shouldn't do things for their children if they want them to do those things on their own. Anybody else, but not Mommy. In Scouts Mommy doesn't go on campouts. Scout leaders (who MAY have carried you for nine months etc) may go on the campout...

    Men who can cook.

Hi Somehow, having Mommy teach you to cook isn't that great. If there's something that they both like to eat, just let them cook it. The more difficult it is to cook, the more help they will need. The non-powder macaroni and cheese is a good start. Must my $0.02 and worth every penny
