Too many coats is the answer.
This is a fairly lightweight fabric being spec'd at 13 to 15 oz. The zip out lining, which is wool flannel backed satin is spec'd at 10 to 13 oz. So taken together it's a moderately hefty coat. It doesn't have a storm flap for the collar, but the lapels button...
Thanks Benproof. It is a very nice coat. Unfortunately, since you reminded me I haven't worn it for awhile I decided to try it on tonight. My holiday overeating had a definite negative effect on the fit. Ha ha. I'm going to have to drop the dozen or so pounds I picked up to be able to wear...
Thanks Richard. Your Nutria Quality today is superb. The only one I've seen in person is my park ranger hat and it is a very stiff felt. How is it in your western?
Michael
Thanks steur. It's the only one I've seen. I'm liking it for it's original out and about in the country uses.
Great looking wool felt. Better than some of my fur felts I would say. Make that many of, haha. Looks like a great accompanying outfit too.
Thanks,
Michael
Thanks Al. Yes, the bottoms were a tad loose. It was early in the morning. Ha ha. Actually they have velcro fasteners that I'm not altogether happy with. I may change them to buttons or hooks, or at least try to optimize them. They are a Woolrich item that I think was sold for cross...
Thanks Red. The vest is something from Woolrich, probably in the 80s. At 2 degrees it's hard to keep anything that isn't electrically heated toasty. But I'm comfy in everything but the coat while I'm sitting here watching a movie.
Michael
Another very cold day here. Switched from Filson to all Woolrich today

With mackinaw, vest, shirt and breeches all manufactured by them at various periods of time. Don't think I'm going to spend much time outside today. If I can...

Have a great Saturday,
Michael
I agree about the long-johns and I had them on. I don't find the mobility too bad. The comfort level does depend on how much heat you are putting out. They are made to be worked in and not standing around in. But I find my heat output varies from day to day and some days I need more...
Thanks Red. I decided that I needed to add some warmth before I went downtown

I kept the Filson vest and mac bibs, but went with a Moncler puffer jacket and the Stormy Kromer cap. They did the job fairly well.
That was a great 'burg you were wearing...
Thanks Dale. I'm pretty happy with all of them. I figure that since ascots seem to be even more out of fashion than bowties I'll be wearing them a lot in the near future. Ha ha.
The Cac-ti is a truly great find. Haven't seen anything that cool around here in ages, if ever.
Michael
It's been rather slow around here on the tie front. Haven't really been looking, but when I have I haven't seen much of interest. I did pick up these three yesterday,

At 4 breezy degrees it is being challenged.
Have a great Friday,
Michael
Sunny, breezy and 4 degrees. This Beaver Hats 10X may not be enough hat for a bus trip downtown, but it did for inspecting the new ice and snow.

Going all west coast...
Thanks Red. That would be a fun series to have. Your Royal Deluxe today is a beauty. I think the one I wore yesterday or whenever it was recently looks to be about the same age as yours.
Michael
Thanks regius. The boots in the coat photos are Red Wing Iron Rangers in Amber Harness leather. I think they do have some form of cork composite sole.
