Take my word for it, no one--and I mean NO ONE--would have wanted that trend to take off. For the most part, "truck drivers" aren't a particularly attractive bunch. Not much sense in exposing that much more of them to the world. ;)
I also had "the green one", but in this part of the world it didn't have the "springer" front forks or that smaller front tire. By the time I was done with it I had painted the frame black, removed the stupid "stick shift" and replaced the rear wheel, replaced the "banana" seat with a single...
I only just received it in the mail yesterday so I haven't had a chance to take any photos of it on my head, but it's a Jaxon gray Herringbone Ivy Cap with a squared brim. 50% wool, 50% Polyester, and a quilted lining. Quite comfortable!
Nice choice! That shade of gray should go well with any number of colors, and that brim will give you more than just a little protection from sun, rain, snow, birds, kids with water balloons...
Easy answer--if you're that concerned about someone starting trouble with you simply because you're wearing a leather jacket, don't wear one. Problem avoided.
That said, if you do decide to get one, above all else do NOT decorate it as if you were a member of a motor club (a.k.a. "biker...
I've been a professional truck driver for four different companies since 1979. If "trucker shorts" exist, I've never heard of them except for the FedEx and UPS uniforms, and I don't consider their drivers as "truckers".
In southern California ski jackets (the kind with the polyester outer shell and down filling) were quite popular during the 70s and early-80s, available in almost any color. Eventually the fad wore off, and everyone moved on to whatever the next big thing was (Member's Only jackets, I think)...
This is the street clock in the "Uptown" area of my home town:
It has been hanging off of the northwest corner of this building since at least the early 1960s. The building itself, while I was growing up, was known as the "Bank of America" building simply because that was who occupied the...
Are these "edges" merely for appearances, or do they provide a practical purpose like, say, reinforcing the edge of the brim enough to maintain it's shape?
You might want to think about getting yourself some non-prescription sunglasses. Maybe polarized, or some with at least a UV filter on the lenses to protect your eyes. Oh, and GREAT cap!
Mark of the Vampire (1935). "When a nobleman is murdered, a professor of the occult blames vampires, but not all is what it seems." Directed by Tod Browning and filmed/produced by MGM, this movie is a loosely based remake of a lost Lon Chaney Sr. movie called "London After Midnight" (also...
I almost bought one of those myself, just to screw with some friends. By the time I got the website to cooperate they were sold out in my size. :(
The Lady's hat features a "To go" container from a Chinese restaurant, surrounded by a ring of Fortune Cookies. Hard to tell, but I'm guessing...
