I mean even as of the thread everyone is referring to, people thought I was out of line for assuming the guy was a flipper. It was after he was proven to be so that we sort of collectively realized what these guys are about.
And I don’t think it’s wrong to be bothered by this phenomenon. The...
Ideally this should be moved to Ask a Question, Get An Answer About Outerwear.
(Would one of the bartenders be able to do that, @Edward ?) I don't always peruse this thread except to see incomings at Thurston and the loading time of the image heavy threads like this make it hard to respond to...
It's not about slim fit per se–I definitely recognize that these are deliberately cut big, because they're outermost garments. On a similar note I have surplus ECWS mittens and they are hugely too big for me (because they assume you're wearing a couple of lays of gloves underneath).
I've been looking for one for a few years but they're so expensive; every time I see an exception it turns out being a nylon replica. (I like nylon flight jackets as evidenced by my N-3B, MA-1, B-15 etc but I want the Nomex based designs in Nomex.)
Hm, I feel that way about a lot of these categorizations (though I also don't blame them–every vintage related hobby comes up with categorizations like this to sort through things that exist in large volume and myriad types), but not this.
It seems straightforwardly a somewhat Engrish version...
Sheepskin, not lambskin (they feel different) and yes the horse/goat/cow/etc are options for the reinforcements, because sheepskin is a relatively fragile material.
This would make a cool thread for a whole number of reasons, by the way!
One of our favorite things here is discovering vendors like that who are established but unfamiliar to us.
I do have to say these seem to contradict each other. The first reads like you wanting to compensate her in case you underpaid (you did); the second has you saying actually you didn't?
Okay, this clarifies it. It was confusing without.
The reason so many of us were curious/skeptical is that...
I can see why you would have hesitated about a 48, given you're in great shape! I think many of us think of sizes past 44 or so as sort of being 'big guy' sizes (even if they aren't necessarily so) so there's a mental block against going for one even if it might be appropriate.
I have to second...
The black goat would be a far better choice, in my opinion.
The reason to put up with the squeaking of the Badalassi is the depth of colour. (And that still wouldn't be enough for me to put up with it.) If you're going black, there are many other choices.
Aero's goat has a beautiful, lustrous...
Vanson does not give out measurements. They say the measurement charts are for internal use only. When I asked about the hem of a particular jacket, they went and measured one on the factory floor.
The only company I know of that gives out a full spec sheet is Schott.
Lol well if that's the...
OP, prompted by that last post, I do have a (new and unworn) leather jacket with detachable Thinsulate liner from Taylors. I had sized it wrong. (It's a Medium Tall.)
I've been meaning to put it up for sale but haven't had the time; if you're interested, that might make a good option to see how...
