Thanks for the nice comments on my new Adam, folks.
Funny comment. Prior to working on the crown, I walked into the room my mother was in wearing it open crown style. She stopped and looked up, and gave me this really weird look. Then she said something to the effect, "You're not really...
I'm afraid I can't add too much to the question of price and quality. My Adam Executive has the same liner as the Executive that Johnnyphi posted pictures of in this thread, yet my hat apparently lost its original price tag.
I have to agree with the others here: go with Art! And have Art make you a whippet!
I know someone else on this board has a whippet style from Art. Does anyone remember who that is?
I have to agree with "Brazil". That's one of my favorite movies, and is well written. I have yet to see "Things to Come" however.
Very fascinating article. Thanks for posting it.
Interestingly enough, I've been playing Diamond's voice in my head as I write this. I've found so far that I'm more successful at working on this story if the radio show dialog is going through my head. I suppose that makes it easier for my own mind to create something new in the same image as...
Thanks Bob. Yours is a nice one too! Adam may have been the budget company of the day, but the quality is certainly up there with the best that can be found today. They're a welcome addition to any collection.
New Johnnyphi Adam Executive
I got my Adam Executive from Johnnyphi today. After working it into a diamond bash, I took these photos. I definitely can say I love this hat already! The color is a fantastic light grey with just a shade of blue in a specific light. The fact that it's a new old...
That's a VERY special hat, Art. When you have a hat with sentimental value attached to it, not even another hat with the best felt in the world could compare.
As for the one hat I would keep...I'll have to get back to you on that. *Goes over to his hats and holds them tightly to his chest...
Adam Executive
Just got my gorgeous Adam Executive hat from Johnnyphi earlier today. It fits well on my L.O. head with just a bit of tissues in the sides of the sweatband.
It came open crown, but as you can see, I'm already training it into a diamond bash. I used a bit of steam on it...
Getting away from wordiness and "passive voice" is one of the things I'm working on not only for my works of fiction, but my job as well.
I'm still working on the story. I wasn't able to write any today thus far, life and the like got in the way.
I'll continue posting as I go...
I must say, rilico does a very good job of advertising the hats that he has sold. I've got one hat I won from one of his auctions, and I've bid on several others. I definitely like the one I have, and a lot of his hats are in good shape.
Wow, what a story! Your imagery is great and you really built up the suspense to when the "package" arrived. I assume you will contact the seller and see if the mix up can be resolved? Keep us posted. I for one want to see this beater!
Thanks for the comments, Sunny! I could have sworn I caught the "nephew glitch" before, but I guess I overlooked that one! :eusa_doh:
This is most certainly not my first work, but my wordiness at times is a weakness in my writing I've been working on for years.
I'll keep working on it...
Hi folks,
I know there are quite a few fans of Golden Era Radio Shows on this board, and I know that there are a few fans of the Richard Diamond detective series hanging around. For a long time, I've wanted to put my creative juices to work and write a short story in honor of this classic...
