The Legendary DURABLE (Wild One) Jacket

Yup on all three points. The Durables look much different than old Schotts; to a "visual" person there's no comparison.

The Legendary DURABLE (Wild One) Jacket

The general design seems to date from the 1930s based on what is known and published in books and on corporate websites. I think Schott claims or others have claimed for them 1935 or thereabouts. [other members have corrected this to the late 1920s] I speculate that the reason these fancy...

What is the Hot Water Treatment and How to do it for Flying Jackets?

That's the best advice for 99% of these sorts of threads and discussions, to be honest.

The Legendary DURABLE (Wild One) Jacket

I'd be willing to bet that the original jacket, if it's still in existence, has disappeared into a private-private collection. If I had a heavy-duty sewing machine I'd buy a banged up Schott, remove the lining, adjust the belt slightly and replace the buckle, and taper the torso a bit and call...

Here's a very interesting pullover leather moto jacket..

^ Sounds like a rotten seller... too bad about the condition, but I reckon many of these old jackets are really only useful as museum pieces or as templates for a custom jacket commission.

Thoughts on the Schott 90th anniversary Perfecto?

I see they're still mounting the belt too high.

The GREAT BRITISH DUFFEL COAT thread

Later during the war garment technology was advancing and it's safe to assume duffel coats would have been phased out fairly soon after the wear ended, hence the large numbers of surplus coats on the used clothing market and their entry into civilian life. Precise dates? It's unlikely you'll...

    Coldest Weather I've been in

Finally had a few cool days here in SoOnt but nothing compared to the just-above-freezing temps that Calgary had in August thanks to the smoke and dust from wildfires in western Canada and the US. I can't say I'm looking forward to winter at all this year, even though it will mean jacket/coat...

    Show Us Your OVERCOATS

I asked my friend to provide details of how he washed his polo coat and here's what he had to say: Warmish water. Gentle soap, I think I used shampoo. Once the water is covering the coat, just sort of swish it around gently, working any specific dirty spots a little more so. Drain the old...

    Show Us Your OVERCOATS

what has worked for me (your mileage may vary) is to hang up smelly gear outside on warm/hot dry days preferably windy days, my experience has been 3 days of that helps a lot, then do a dry clean on the topic of cleaning, here's a suggestion: a close friend of mine every few years hand cleans...

The GREAT BRITISH DUFFEL COAT thread

Honestly, if you want a coat that seals up well in bad weather, then a duffle coat is not the best choice. Toggles and a hood without drawstring are not ideal.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I watched this recently and I agree it's a very good film. Even a couple months later, large portions of the film are vivid in my memory.
