I'm wild
It's not a remake in the classic sense, it's more like tarantino "remaking" city on fire to "create" reservoir dogs, so maybe not such a crime, which is what remaking it as a WESTERN would be. And besides, didn't EXTREME PREJUDICE rip off TWB very successfully 20 years ago?
I found this quote while browsing:
It may take courage or an eccentric spirit to wear a dress hat in many parts of the country, but not in Detroit, the home of the blues. It's an excellent place for hat lovers, with dozens of places to buy them and enough men wearing felt hats to raise the...
Found this Stetson Highway, (not open road as I said in previous thread), very fine condition size 55 so too small for me, anyone interested in a swap for something 57, or sale whatever. One small pinhole in band is only fault otherwise nice hat no mothholes. Would rebash quite nicely.
Got this for $A8 the other day, a Stetson San Juan, the interior was mouldy and the bash..well you can see,
A bit of time in the shower with a shoebrush and some soap, and Voila!
I also picked up an Open Road size 55 with a weird bash but excellent condition while I was at it. Too small...
Dramatic license
Another historical question, would a POW as obviously jewish as "Shapiro" have been safe and secure in a Nazi prison camp, I thought they were pretty rough on Jews who actually fought against them in other armies.
Hogan's garbage
I read that the two ex-POW's who wrote the play Stalag 17 on which the movie was based actually sued the makers of Hogan's Heroes, quite rightly in my opinion, but lost, because apparently there are no similarities!?!?!?!?
I always hated HH because I saw S17 as a kid and...
I found this (60's?) single breasted in perfect condition, no moth-holes anywhere I can see, but it just ain't me colour-wise, and just don't sit right, and I'm pretty sure it was bespoke as there is no size on it anywhere. However the dimensions are:
Waist 40" or 102cm, with belt lugs and YKK...
I just watched this classic again, and there weren't many flying jackets to be seen, except on the guys who just arrived, I thought they were general issue, and seeing that the whole camp is full of flight sergeants, I expected a lot more to be on display, seeing as the film was made only 7...
or these guys
obviously I've never had a hat shipped internationally by this store but I've been in there in person many times and found them to be nice guys and dinkum as far as I can see.

Silky
I contacted the makers and they tell me this is 60's at the latest, and is silk jacquard, so a good score for sure. i'm wearing until it gets too warm here at night, which won't be long, but next winter......
spot on
Of course they are, but I only got them about a year ago for $10, they were a size too small, so I did the old trick of filling them with methyl alcohol until soaked, wearing with thick socks until dried out, then given lashings of neatsfoot oil, after that dried again in the sun...
Shinin' on
I attended a 50th birthday party on the weekend and a young girl..well she was 21, came up and was raving about my boots, or more specifically, the shine thereon, "how do THEY get them like that" well actually says I: "it's an ancient and secret ritual involving rare implements and...
Found this, not sure if it's silk or rayon, gent's robe or maybe smoking jacket, perfect fit, for $8 in a usually rapacious shop the other day..I think they outsmarted themselves, it's never been worn, or it hadn't been til I got hold of it! Some of the detail is exquisite.
vanity is fair
Everybody who's a member here must be vain, or else why would they even be interested? Otherwise they'd be dressed in some plastic bag from K-mart
Just thought I'd pass on a trick I worked out, I got an Akubra on ebay that arrived not too bad with a couple of mothpits but on the crown there was a patch about the size of a 2-bob, (or a quarter to you yanks) where obviouly a label or patch of hard glue had been torn away leaving the felt...
LRDG
The best and probably only film about these guys called SEA OF SAND often pops up on the ABC here late at night. Great film. PLAY DIRTY was similar but a bit more fictionalised, and is also a pretty good war flick.
