Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

And depersonalization. And distraction from the truth.

Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

What concerns me is that even with the widespread reporting of human rights abuses in Apple factories in China, people still worship their iPhones. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/apple-admits-it-has-a-human-rights-problem-6898617.html

Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

Not true in the least. Check out any old Sears catalog. Prices for everyday appliances, furnishings and clothing made in the USA were within the middle-class price range.

Vendor claims this is 1950s - What do you think?

It does look 1970s. Do you ask because you wish to bid on it?

Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

Given the subject of this thread and the precarious economic situation so many Americans find themselves in, I don't think opting to spend more is an option for most...

Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

It makes me sick, too. I have to hold my nose when I buy many things new and cheaply made.

Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

I have a working "vintage" (well, old) furnace in my basement made by Thermo Pride. I believe mine is from the 1980s! I just this morning had it serviced (a broken belt) and each technician states that it's the "Cadillac" of furnaces and they run forever. I checked their site and saw when I...

Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

I once tried to live by buying "Made in the USA" only. I learned that it's nearly impossible unless I buy all vintage and I do my best with that.

Do you think there could be a second Great Depression?

William Stratford: People are not buying quality; they are buying cheap with built-in obsolesence... I don't think there's much decision-making involved in the quality of what we buy because there aren't many options. Today's "Cheap" (in quality and price) was yesterday's "Affordable."...

Not trying to be cute, but...

I've since decided that I adore being called cute. In the last 48 hours I was called both "adorable" and "cutie" by a friend and an acquaintance. I've made my peace with no longer being called "Femme Fatale."

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

What I like about both old ladies/bags is that we do what we want! (I made my line into my sig.)

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

Yes, I'm familiar with that usage, but when I use it on myself I mean a literal old lady as far as eating early bird specials, collecting doilies, watching Lawrence Welk while eating dinner on TV trays, fussing over details in my home, going to bed early, being old school, etc. :)

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

Senator Jack- are you still reading? I just spent the last two hours reading this for the first time. This kind of dialogue, and defense of it, is what attracted me to the lounge long ago and I wish there was more of it. To the fellow who said he calls himself "old man," I call myself an "old...

    The Doggy Bag

What a great service that is, as well as a way to gain factual observations on who is bringing leftovers home. Thanks!

    The Doggy Bag

It's actually a vintage term which is why I posted it. ;) http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/doggie%20bag But I don't use it when I ask for something to take home with me.
