I own a West Point class of 1915 annual, the class which includes Dwight Eisenhower and Omar Bradley. Pictures of the class therein. How rare and collectible is that? Just curious. Earl
Nobody in the family ever mentioned his classmates. So, first time I looked through the annual and saw photos of Eisenhower and Bradley, was quite surprised. His first commission out of the Point was serving with General Pershing chasing Pancho Villa around the border. Wished I could have met...
Have 1 just like it. Belonged to my great uncle who graduated West Point class of 1915-the class including Eisenhower and Omar Bradley. Even have his WP annual with class pics for that year. Earl
Was a good week to hit up thrift stores AKA Goodwill to re-stock my closets a bit. Actually found a couple of things with the new tags still on them. 1 that wasn't new but in great shape was a pair of navy dress slacks I've been wanting. Amazingly hard to find that color in men's dress slacks...
113 years old. When we moved in over 1 year ago, it came with a compilation of every transaction involving the original plat going back to 1874. Interesting document of local history in itself. Earl
Love Native American flute music. I'm from South Dakota-not too far from Sisseton for that matter-little Claremont. As a kid, we had a cabin at Roy Lake. Earl
Tend to prefer spicy/hot and/or tomato sauce-based dishes-Mexican, hot Chinese dishes, Italian, cajun-creole, etc. German, Eastern European, and Scandinavian don't do it for me. My great-grandparents may have come from Norway, but wouldn't get within 10 feet of lutefisk-really, you ever smelled...
Pretty much how I always wear mine, (my hats are of the wider brim sort-2 1/2-2 3/4 inch-, though), but use a somewhat narrower angle of swoop in the front. Earl
Bacon, onion, and cheese omelet with sweet corn bread muffins for dinner. Did the omelet the "New Mexican" way, put red and green chile sauce both on it. My t'was good that way.:essen: Now, that it's 8 pm around these parts, am ready to pull up the scotch and fire up my pipe with an...
As with all things, I look at cost-benefit. Am a fan of thrift stores and haven't found a good trench in 1. Have a good looking one resembling the Burberry. I bought new some 15 years or more ago. Burberry quality? Not hardly. But heavens, paid around $40 for it vs. $1600+:eeek::D Earl
Several years ago, picked up a pair of glasses closely resembling them from WalMart only in tortose shell. Love them. Still also have my previous glasses which are wire rims of the sort mentioned in this thread-not the 20's type but that other 1. Earl
A Harris Tweed is on my thrift list. Don't own 1 as yet. Thought I was about to when I stopped into our local Goodwill store. But, alas, it was too small for me. Have been pretty lucky there of late finding clothes I've been wanting. Today did buy a charcoal gray cashmere blend, single-breasted...
Thanks. No label inside. That supplier of buttons would certainly fit the bill if I want to swap out the buttons. Perhaps, I should leave them as original. Of course, the buttons on it now are of the contemporary style you posted. Earl
Just "received" a Navy peacoat from the 1968-1972 period. My wife's stepmother had died a few months back and in cleaning out her house, they discovered the peacoat that had belonged to my wife's brother who died nearly 30 years ago. Fits me. So now I own it. Am tempted to replace its navy...
Had spicey honey-orange chicken: thinly cut chicken breasts batter fried with a honey-orange sauce comprised of honey, frozen orange concentrate, orange zest, crushed red pepper, garlic, and green onions served over rice. New favorite. Earl
