Brown CXL looks good, the fit will be much better once that leather relaxes and breaks in. I would like to recommend to shape the collar with a hotwatertreatment, the collar has plenty of potential.
Hanalei Surf HotWaterTreatment (HSHWT) patent pending, is far superior to the Lake Michigan treatment, according to many studies. But you do the best with what you got.
Yes the leather (regular not premium goat) did get softer but it still looks pretty much the same (which is fine) , at the time it was shaun’s “experimental” wax / oil distressed. I never did any type of hotwater - dryer treatment etc And I’m still happy with it but haven’t pulled out of...
I have searched and read through the various sweatband care/cleaning threads and this seems most relevant for my concerns. I am not a collector so I have no need for caring for an old sweatband (at least not yet). On my new hats, I have worn them for about a week and then treat the front and...
I theorize, perhaps the sense of urgency to reach the beach before any large toothy fishes get to you is the reason behind deeper and more permanent sleeve creases?
:p
He told me that he made the jacket in XXXL, washed and tumbled it for 8 hours, measuring it frequently to get the exact fit he was looking for. I think that a gteat part of his process is artistic and intuitive, especially as he had this skin thinned down by the tannery to make a Hawai’i...
?
Of course not, I know.
Okay, I will work on it so that you can better understand me in the future. :)
The post meant to say, "Do some leather jackets shrink, while others expand/stretch, and if so, what are the factors involved, and how I can know that what I'm getting will be more likely...
Thanks @dudewuttheheck, I saw your Bodie and that looks so good! It will eventually get the hotwatertreatment so I can shape it better and fold down the part where the inside of the collar and end of the zipper meet.
Hotwatertreatment to shape the collar... @Jin431 could you please explain how exactly you do this? Maybe the instructions already existed and I missed them. Then sorry and the link please ;-)

Per instructions by @handymike, you would run hot tap water on the underside of the collar until it feels softer/pliable. Dry excess water, put on the jacket and shape it as you see fit. When you have it where you want it you just set it down to dry.
It's a matte black by design and I thought it was dry at first. If the sleeve alteration is relatively cheap I'll go for it if not I'll leave it alone. Maybe I'll try hotwatertreatment on the elbow/forearm lol that's pretty affordable
I did the old hotwatertreatment to shape the collar c/o @handymike . This is why I like having a little extra length on the collar. It's not as nice as @willyto s mustache but it will do.
I don’t think the HWT will shorten the sleeve length, maybe a few mm, if any. The best way would be to shorten the sleeves. By the way, cool lightweight jacket in vintage optic…
