There are an abundance of small size sweaters at my local surplus store. But, unless you're a Extra Small, Small or a Medium, I'm afraid I can't help you.
If anyone would like me to take a look for a Canadian Forces woolypully, just shoot me a pm and I'll see what I can do.
I have a smorgasbord collection: ripped and repaired Canadian Army OD issue bought at $9.00 each; some black from service days,
and several OD and light olive sweaters purchased from Land's End (twenty years+ ago), a Maine outfit that I am not sure still exists.
Land's End also sold excellent...
Thanks Ticklishchap! I don't wear a clerical collar, I'm a shirt and tie kind of preacher, Ha! Looking at the Outdoor Knitwear website, I like the Peat Brown, Derby Tweed, Black and the Olive colors. I'd probably always wear it over a casual shirt of some kind, topped with a fedora of course...
I am similar to you in that I have several Navy and Army WPs, along with two Black ones, RAF Blue-Grey, Dark Grey Mix, Peat Brown, Dark Red, Purple Mix, Derby Tweed, Moss Green. … In theory I alternate them, but it’s been mainly Navy recently for some reason and occasionally Black. You really...
It is logical to assume that you will grow. At one point in the past, I was a 42L, then a 44L and now a 46L which I have been for an extremely long time. Like from my undergrad to today.
Some questions for you. Do your fellow students wear suits to school? I think you mentioned you had a few...
They are great sweaters. I have had one for many years and love wearing it.
I hope you're feeling better now.
Can we 'convert' you to Woolly Pullies as well?
Yes, that's my understanding as well. Though come to think of it, there were some very simple jerkin-style, button-up collarless jackets in the 1910s and early 20s.
You can see leathers being worn in old photos of Brooklands and the Isle of Man TT, for instance, but they always seem to be the...
Had a great find in a second hand shop on another WoolyPully today in blue and remembered this thread. For the fun of it I took pictures of my two
Here's my black one
And the blue one
I suspect the blue one is older as it has buttons on the epaulettes whereas the black one...
Good morning,
Those are good photographs and great sweaters, I guess even in your location of California, they come in handy for cool mornings & evenings, are you in the San Francisco area? I am in London UK, and we have had one of the coldest and longest winters for many years where such...
Two commando/field style "wooly pully" sweaters for sale in large.
British made by Woolyback, 100% gray-green new wool, heavy weight. Washable suade shoulder and elbow patches. In very good shape, worn only a few times, some slight 'pilling' and some pulled threads, but still looks sharp...
Ticklishchap, unfortunately, according to my wife I'm all set with military sweaters at the moment and can't justify adding just one more to my inventory. But, all those UK retailers are good to know about. I've perused all but "Flightstore" for different things at one point or another in the...
When I was in the US Army stationed in Germany in the early 1980s we refered to those British style wool "commando" sweaters with the fabric epaulets and elbow patches as wooly-pullies. We were not permitted to wear them with our uniforms as they were not issue. They were popular however...
