Actually, it's a 2.5" chambered 12 ga. I fear I will never be able to afford a double rifle (sob, whimper, bawl . . .) but I do indulge myself on occasion with vintage shotguns.
And the .450 Rigby is my Big Killer. Although I admit to believing the .505 Gibbs is the Queen of Class III dangerous game rifles, I own a .450. That thing knocks buffalo down!
However if he was, one of the brotherhood would have told him to get a slightly larger size hat. I mean, it should at least come down near the tops of his ears . . .
Actually I'd call it 'tragic relief'. I wear hearing aids because the issue ear plugs in Basic didn't fit so they didn't work. And I knew it was h happening at the time! Hell, we had a kid in the company get medically sent home he'd lost so much of his hearing. And BTW, ear muffs aren't any...
My real love is shotguns and I need to start prowling the pawn shops, gun stores and gun shows of the PNW but there's this one website, www.vintagedoubles.com, that is going to get some serious money out of me. Kirby manages to find things that are just treasures. I may need a bigger safe!
Absolutely! My grandfather had a couple of 'parade' rifles that came down to me. He was too young for WWI and tool old for WWII but like so many immigrants he was a patriot to the tips of his fingers and marching in the Elks drill team was his way of expressing it. The old trapdoor...
As I recall it takes about 500 to go up to the next level. Having a zillion opinions on everything that was no problem for me. Finding something valuable/useful/intelligent, now, can be a challenge.
The Czechs before WWII were rated at least as high as the Germans when it came to precision...
I dunno. Squirrel suit flying seems pretty damned adventurous to me. The problem is that our technology has gotten so advanced that it's hard to find a way of swashbuckling out into the wild without a huge supply train, even if it's only electronic. I mean, how many people do you know who can...
Hey, even Jack ".270 Win" O'Connor admitted it was the best overall cartridge going. It is no end of confusion for me but I've never owned one. Can't for the life of me explain that.
The Whelen is a good round! Either it or the .338/06 is all you really need in N. America. My .318 would make one redundant but for a guy who reloads the choice of .358 bullets is amazing.
Beauty? Nope. Pure working gun. I still have it and often give some thought to having it restocked in decent walnut. Once I do that I'll post pictures. All my African battery needs work. The .404 also needs a new stock because the one it has now is an ugly '50's Monte Carlo. The .318...
