I don't ride so my coat is just on for the commute to work and back. And when it's under 40 degrees, the wool comes out. So it doesn't see much hard work to put it mildly.
This is a plea for advice. I have two leather jackets, one from Aero and the other from SB and after being in the closet for a while they both smell fishy. What am I doing wrong and how do I get rid of the smell?
And for background they are both veg tanned. My CXL doesn't smell at all.
Beautiful jacket. Have fun breaking it in. But, having a Clayton jacket myself, be prepared for it to take a long time. Mine's a year old and still stands on it's own. But I love it.
I've had good luck with Simmons Bilt. They made serious adjustments to my Roadster to get it to fit. It's probably about the same as my HWM, but I got the veg tanned HH so it's still so stiff.
Anyway, Debs is usually really good at answering, and if you don't hear from her, she may be...
I don't know if I am on the outs with Aero, but it takes at least 5 days to get a response, if I even get one. And I am in NY working for a French bank, so I know the email should be working fine. And I've checked my spam folder to make sure it's not going in there. I am chalking it up to their...
Hammerklavier, As you can see from the responses here there is a very big bias towards Aero simply because it's Aero. If you have a limited budget and you're not concerned about who was first to start making {insert jacket type here} jackets, then you can choose Simmons Bilt. If you want to...
I didn't even think about it. I sent them my measurements and they built the jacket and it's labeled a 44. The 42 from Aero is a slim fit jacket, and they weren't kidding. It fits well except the shoulders, where it's a touch tight. For the Roadster, I asked for a little more room so I can wear...
Comparing it to my Aero Maxwell in a 42, it's a completely different fit. Much roomier, almost boxy. But I find that if I wanted to layer under it, I would have to wear this over the Aero. I can get a t-shirt under that jacket, and that's about it.
Thanks. I like it so much I just bought a slightly bigger one.
I think the size is the issue. It's a little big from what I've seen on here. I think the 38's and 40's go quickly, but when you get into the meathead sizes...well...
It's been good in the rain, but otherwise I am not a huge fan. And like you, I looked at the vintage Clayton, but I wanted something a little more uniform to start. But it is a lot softer than the regular Clayton. But part of the fun of owning one of these jackets is the break in period, right?
I got a ton! Debs sent me everything from CXL HH to goat. I don't know how the goat was tanned, but it was buttery soft. I little too soft for a jacket I will be wearing while hanging off the side of my Jeep, but it was nice. There was also bison, but that was a little too grainy out of the gate...
