Ask a question, get an answer

I'm not particularly interested in this particular hat. I was just curious if anyone had ever heard of a Panama without a sweatband.

Ask a question, get an answer

I came across this while looking for a new Panama: http://www.berkeleyhat.com/paexfi1.html The hat is made with no sweatband "like it is in hats worn by the native people in Ecuador." I would think it would stain very quickly. Anyone had any experience with a Panama without a sweatband?

    Uniform shoe

For that quality, you won't find anything better. But be aware that the last that shoe is built on is extra roomy to allow for the use of an orthotic. This will affect how it fits. You might also take a look at shoebank.com to see what else is available.

    Rancourt Byron Boots

You are somewhat limited in choices if you need a B width. I don't know of any beside AE and Rancout. Good luck.

    Rancourt Byron Boots

It does come in a B width. The Overview says it is made with Horween Chromexcel. This is for the upper. The "imported leather" on the Details section refers to other parts of the shoe. I'm not sure what you are referring to about the "black welted leather edges." The AE is a goodyear welt, and...

    Sprezzatura vs trying too hard.

The primary element of being well-dressed is not what you are wearing, but how well it fits. Sprezzatura works because what you are wearing fits properly regardless of whether you are in jeans or trousers. The fit is what makes it look effortless. An inexpensive slouchy jacket, if it has been...

Rancourt aren't as popular as Allen Edmonds, so you won't find a lot of discussion about them. Here is a link to a brief discussion of one of their boots that uses the same Blake construction as the Byron...

    Button suspenders and messy shirt

I would second the above advice. I wear suspenders with all my trousers and find they work best when there is about 1 inch of extra width in the waist. I also wear shirts that are fitted properly close around the chest with high arm holes. This combination helps keep the shirt tucked in and...
