After two weeks with my Aero 1930's HB in CXL FQHH I can say unequivocally that it is breaking in much quicker and nicer then the AL Roadster in the standard veg tanned FQHH. If anyone remembers when I bought the AL Roadster I thought about selling it because it was so dang stiff. I wore that...
My winters are upstate NY winters and neither the 1930's HB or Roadster will be adequate, it's cold and snows a lot, for me a leather jacket is a fall, early winter, and spring jacket. For winter I wear something warm and more purpose built.
I have an Aero 1930's HB I bought new from Aero, and an Alexander Leathers Roadster I bought off eBay for cheap. I will say, and this may just be the cut and leather I got it in, but I would give the nod to Aero in terms of quality of materials and attention to detail.
But the AL Roadster is...
Sterling is at its weakest point against the dollar in 31 years. It's a great time to buy an Aero jacket, or invest in UK markets in general as they'll no doubt rebound once the Brexit business is finalized. I see this with Japanese products, I like Seiko watches and I buy their JDM watches...
I think this is my aversion to the A2, anytime I see them in the wild they belong to someone wearing one 3 sizes too big and it's terribly ill fitting. A properly sized A2 while not my favorite design would likely be a lot more enticing.
Someone beat me to it, Wesco Engineer Boots aren't going to get lighter with use (maybe your leg muscles will grow?)
Do you want to look good or be comfortable? They're largely mutually exclusive lol...
I'm only keeping two leather jackets and the 1930's HB would be the keeper for sure, is really versatile and has a great profile, it's a flattering jacket because of the cut. For everyday wear I don't think you could go wrong with the 1930's HB. The Dustbowl looks the same as a 1930's HB...
Thank you. I know I'm the minority around here where I just wear the jacket to break it in, but that's what I do, toss it on and let it wrinkle and break in from the movement of my body. I'll rub the collar a little, but it settles down quickly with daily wear and my neck rubbing up against...
The jacket came in today, shipped quickly from Scotland, had to pay $60 duty but what are you gonna do?
Overall the cut is much different than my AL Roadster (Highwayman Knockoff), but I think they about nailed the fit. It's slightly tight in the shoulders and upper back but I attribute that...
I earn a good wage as an IT executive, but I also have a lot of bills, I own two leather jackets each well under 1K, three watches with the most expensive being a Seiko MM300, I drive a Honda Civic, etc... Point is I've always stayed within my means until this year when I put in a swimming pool...
Schott makes nice jackets, I had a Perfecto and the leather was so soft and supple, it broke in so nice. My only complaint is Schott doesn't make enough casual styles they're mostly motorcycle jackets which i only like on the bike, not to wear daily.
I have a Filson waxed tin-cloth jacket somewhere. I only use it to shovel the driveway or walk the dog if it's raining or something. It took getting used to the wet feeling from the waxed cotton, not a huge fan of that to be honest.
One thing about their sizing is the jackets run HUGE, I...
With the exchange rate I couldn't pass it up, basically $830 for a new 1930's HB in FQHHCX Cordovan. I have to send in measurements I guess but other than that it's just a waiting game now.
Hey Guys,
This deal fell through so this is still available if anyone wants it. I was just too lazy to bump this up and deal with boxing and shipping it out.
Thanks, any questions let me know.
