I always use Byson leather as like you I am in the Uk. I had 4 jackets done by them and they do a fantastic job. I am no expert but once done they look like the original. Can’t fault them.

I keep saying no more G1s (well that is what i tell my wife!) but i succumbed to another one. This time an April 2005 mint Pharr! Great supple jacket with real mouton collar!
I have some of the Saddlery /Cooper A2s and they are a totally different fit to the Cockpit version as they don t have the extra panel on the sides. They run small so i get a 40 all the time and the fit is good. The Cockpit and the current Excelled run true to size and even the 38 which is my...
Great thread! Thanks for the interesting comparison. Any chance of a photo of the Excelled label please. I have several and love them. Why get a copy when you can have an original hence however good they are the Cockpit is a non starter for me.

Well that is a sorry state of affairs. Sounds like the latest offering is not a good one. I know the latest issue run a size bigger but did not realise that they had side entry pockets . Also should have a Dla label on below the white one instead or the Dscp. If you still have it would love to...
He is a RAF Air commodore with the NATO E3 component based in Germany. RAF flying US aircraft types wear US flight clothing. But definitely a custom job.

I appreciate that its a Foster but i would imagine the straps in the current Eastman ones will fit it? You can always phone Byson to see if they can get some for you but in the UK Eastmans would be your best bet and then get Byson will do the work. I had 3 G1s done by them and they are spot on...
I got the knits from E bay a chap from the states. They are superb and even with the shipping very reasonable . I sent 4 G1s over the years to Byson and every time they did a superb job. As a rule i found that vintage G1s are in really good nick bar the knits. Once these are replaced you have a...
I have used Byson leather here in the uk to do work on my G1s . Can't fault their workmanship. Don't know if you tried them.

Fabulous job there! I have an issue one with the velcro patches on. Also in 38. Great fit 40 would be too large. Yet I wear a 40 in theDcsp G1. I gather the very latest batch of G1s run a size up in the Dla labels. I love the quality of both A2 and the G1 considering they are an issue item.
You...
Thank you for a very informative reply. I have a 2007 issue A2 which in design and construction is superb but the problem is the very poor quality leather which is starting to peel its top cover is certain areas. I presume this particular year was the one that you had an issue with. Which are...
Have you a photo please? I have one with the white government label on and the Excelled label under. These were issued and as far as I know were the first lot when they got the contract and predate the Dscp label system. Will put a photo on tomorrow
