The photo doesn't show it but it was an early version of the Ventura and just too trim in the waist area for comfort. I'd have another, in a heartbeat, but the cost and wait time are just too prohibitive. I might have something in the pipeline, to take its its place, but it's early days yet for...
Thought this might help anyone considering a Pike n-1. This my medium but when considering the chest measurement it's worth keeping in mind the lining is quite thick.
Size medium Pike n-1 with the jacket zipped up and laid flat:
Chest 23 1/2"
Shoulders 18 3/4"
Sleeves 25"
Back Length 25 3/4"...
Thanks breezer, I do have a nice Highwaymen and it gets plenty of wear time. I still like the style of the n-1 deck jacket but need a better fit, perhaps another brand might work? An original would be nice but all the examples I've seen have been wrecked.
5' 11" with a 40" chest. I tried on the large but it absolutely swamped me, big over the shoulders and very long arms. I bought the medium but it's a bit too snug at the waist for comfort.
Wish I could get on with mine, only worn it half a dozen times, bought it from Aero last time I was up there. I guess I won't be happy till I get my hands on an original :-(
I'm not sure if this helps but I'm 5'11" with a 40" chest and 36" waist. My 40" Premier 1930's half belt is trim fitting and I can't layer with it, but it's still one of my favouite jackets.
As others have said, body looks good but I would be looking for +1" on the sleeves. All subjective though, the main thing is, what do you feel would be right for you to feel comfortable? Go with that.
That's a nice looking jacket at a good price with the 20% off. Owned a couple of russet red jackets over the years but they never got much wear, I could never find stuff to wear that compliments that colour. If they ever do a seal brown and loose the wind flap, I'd be very tempted.
