Just my size! But the main zipper has been replaced. So my bank account is saved! These herc styles seem to pop up quite often. Is it because so many were produced or that they were just built well to be survivors?
Seems like a good amount of these survived / or weren't issued. Mine was actually in NOS condition when I got it, except for the storage damage. Moth destroyed knits and some surface breakdown. I gave it the bath treatment, shampooed the collar, conditioned everything and then sent it into...
Took this one out today, 1968 Martin Lane G-1 I recently had a knit replacement job on. The mouton fur is really dry. Think some beard oil might plump it up a little? I figure, if it's good for living facial hair what harm can it do to dead hair...
IMO- as a fellow jacket bather, I’ve had very clean looking jacket produce this dark brown/burgundy runoff color when draining and can almost certainly say it is dye residue from the lining and or hide. And if you let it soak for too long, especially if you added Lexol Cleaner into the bath...
One of these days I'm going to buy back that Seal Goat Sunburst.... is my name tag still on the inner pocket label?! Love to see a fit pic of two and how this has broken in
Good info thanks. Guess I’ll try living with them on the jacket and see if they grow on me. These were the pin in type so it’s not like I’ll have glue damage if I decide to pull them off. Will post a fit pic soon and see if the lounge thinks it’s too big to keep for a casual wear jacket
Ah, that could also be why Im kind of not sure about keeping them on the jacket. Reminds me too much of my old military school / army uniform shoulder boards. I would never wear rank in public on a jacket, just screams "toolbag" . But maybe the perfecto star is considered cool...
Just curious as to what the "official" symbolism is behind the metal star on Perfecto's? Also, given my recent vintage 70's perfecto pickup (courtesy Jmax's find's and deals post!), would it be considered sacrilege or drop the jacket value if I removed them? Jacket is a slightly small 44 but...
These are SOLD. Off to spend their next life in the greener pastures of Alaska with a fellow lounger. Kind of miss seeing these in my closet but it just leaves an opening for the next purchase...
I caved and bought this sans measurements for $145 shipped. Seller did answer my q about any odors / smoke smell etc and said its clean / leather smell. My quick research said this is a late 70's Perfecto steerhide style 615 that supposedly run 1 size small. Apparently lots of good schott info...
I was going to bite on this one but seller turned down $125. Also, wouldn't give actual chest or shoulder measurements. "Im not a seamstress" was the reply. Kind of turned me off from gambling $150 when I really need a 42. Unless these run small
IMO, that is an expensive and risky alteration gamble on it coming out like new perfect. It doesn’t look crazy wide and if it were mine, I’d hot water soak / hair dry the area instead. I have had success doing that and it’s free. Worst case it doesn’t shrink enough / leather gets dried out. Some...
