New Lee for Me
Just got this Lee off Etsy -- a great deal. It is flat-out gorgeous and I only regret not buying it sooner. Condition is fine, especially the inside. Pics say it all.
I have to wait until much cooler weather to wear it, but I have some new straw hats, also from Etsy, that I...
Anybody know anything about Henry the Hatter of Dtroit?
I have had this vintage gray porkpie since the mid-'80s, and it was old then, and the only information on its lining is this: Henry the Hatter, Detroit's Exclusive Hatter since 1893. Above the writing is the picture in gold of a man in a...
Maker: Lock &Co. Hatters, London
Style: Bowler
Color: Old Pewter
Size: Inside circumference is 22 1/2 inches.
Condition: The hat is in very fine condition. Must have been worn at one time because someone put two small, thin piece of white felt inside the sweatband in the...
A new-to-me, vintage fedora. It is taupe, a fur felt Adam hat with a stitched edge. 2 ¾ in brim, 4 ½ in crown. I think it is a ’50s hat and has seen a lot of wear: the ribbon is two-toned due to sun exposure, there are some mothing issues, and the ribbon knot is a tad smooshed. The wind...
Green Dobbs Twenty that I picked up at a local flea market yesterday morning. Great way to start the day. Still had the original paper price tag stuck on the inside of the hatband -- $20.
Gave it a good brushing and may do a little re-blocking this afternoon after work.
Just purchased a vintage Dobbs Twenty at a local flea market this morning: fur felt, stingy brim fedora: 1 7/8 in. brim, 4 1/2 in. crown, 2 in. black ribbon. Color? According to the paper tag still stuck on the inside of the hatband, "oliverde," other wise known as green. Not a raw edge, but...
Another inherited hat about which I know very little. It is a typical black felt fedora --2 1/4 in. brim, 4 1/2 in. crown, and a black 1 1/2 in. wide ribbon -- made by the Raffaelli hat company of Milano, Italy. At the top of the lining is a crest marked "Qualite Superior."
Now that I see it...
Wearing another inherited hat from my Dad that I bought for him in June 2011 at the Batsakes Hat Store in Cincinnati (my company sends me there every June for two weeks). Unfortunately, he had only one summer to enjoy it.
It is a beaut -- a Stetson Genuine Shantung Panama fedora. Has a 5 in...
One of the hats that inherited from my Dad carries this label. Inside the hat are the words Cashmere-Fell -- they are written on the lining and the sweatband. There also is a gold etching of a golden goat. And the words, Made in Italy. I did find their website and they seem to have mid-tier...
Nothing expensive -- a newly purchased Jaxon crushable wool felt trilby in chocolate brown. 4 in. crown, 2 in. brim. 1 1/2 in. dark brown ribbon. Felt warm and comfy on a cold, rainy day. Matching brown suede jacket. The Borsalino stayed at home.
Wearing a Borsalino Film today that I inherited from my Dad. Black, which was his favorite hat color. Size-wise it fits; style-wise it's a tad large for my face and frame.
But it was his and I will wear it.
Today I am wearing a Borsalino Film that I inherited from my Dad. It's a bit big for me style-wise although it fits me well. Its crown, about 5 1/2 inches, is a tad high for me the the brim is quite wide. It's black, my Dad's favoite hat color.
My wife thinks it makes me look like "an old...
A enigmatic mystery cloaks my brow today: It is a hat that I inherited from my Dad, who died 2 ½ years ago, but one that I only discovered late last night. I am meeting with a friend for today and told him I would bring a crate of hats that fit my Dad but not me. He has a larger head than most...
Black cotton trilby. Rather like the one James Bond wore in Dr. No and From Russia, With Love.
No-name, mass-produced, but I liked it the moment I set it on my head and looked into the nearest mirror.
I noticed that in the past month or so, Harold Finch has been wearing a hat in the colder weather. Looks like a stingy brim fedora with a rather wide ribbon on the crown. (His cohorts Shaw and Reece are relegated to wearing wool watch caps.)
Any idea about who makes that hat? (I think the...
Wearing my rain hat -- a herring bone pattern, tweed Dobbs fedora. Two-inch, leather trimmed brim; four and half inch crown with center and front bashes. Hat band is also cloth that is leather trimmed and sports the Dobbs pin. Crown is slight smooshed. A beater, definitely.
Rescued from a...
Another bargain bin rescue from Goodwill, I'm afraid -- a mass-produced cheapie trilby. Made to look like linen but it's actually cotton. Black, high crown, stingy brim. Thinking of offering it to my daughter, another hat person. Like its look, though. And loved the price.
Received a hat...
