See if Ebay has the Frye Rand Lace-up boots in your size. They were discontinued last year after I'd bought a pair in black. I liked them so much I found pairs in dark brown and tan. Really nice-looking and super comfortable. Worth every penny.
Thanks. I'm always afraid when I ask that question that I'll be directed to a Japanese site that will be completely incomprehensible and intimidating. Gustin's about as exotic as I've gotten.
I live in hope that one of these days the forces of the universe will come together in such a way that, at the exact moment I actually have a little spare cash, Terry will be offering the perfect black jacket in my size (38). As my law-school kid just got himself a well-paid internship, the...
One of the best little investments I've made is in a hat-stretcher. They go for about $15 or $20 on Amazon or Ebay and are really worth it. Not long ago I noticed my Sunbody was feeling a bit tight, so I dampened it one night, put in the stretcher, and left it in overnight. In the morning the...
Sounds fine either way. What shade were the khakis? Personally, I've always liked the way light-colored khakis look with black boots, probably because I remember my dad, a WWII Marine, wearing that combo on weekends. Also, there was a craze back in the early '60's of white or off-white jeans...
Have you worn the jacket for, say, twenty minutes straight or so? I'm asking because I've always found the leather to be very stiff whenever I first put it on, but it softens up after about fifteen minutes and, if I keep it on for some time, it becomes completely pliable once my body heat...
Art,
Sorry to hear about your experience, but I'm glad they found it in time. I had a similar experience last year and, you're right, it's the waiting that drives you crazy.
Sorry to hear you're retiring, but you know best. Just recently somebody asked me what I thought would be the ideal...
Unlike the pure wool hats, fur-felt won't shrink much. Besides, I always keep in mind that one of the main purposes in wearing a hat is to protect you from the elements, and Akubras do a great job of that. The subject of shrinkage is one that's gone on here for years, and I'm of the party that...
I'd strongly advise you to follow Zombie's advice, as given above. Also, have you considered the Campdraft or the Fed IV? I'm only asking because I've noticed over the years that people new to Akubras almost always want to order the Stylemaster first but very soon go on to one of the others...
I've been scouting around for some time for Loake's Anglesey boots and can't seem to snag a pair. It's a very confusing situation: Loake's can't export to the U.S., but I was able to snag two pairs of Bedales and Burfords through JulesB USA, but the Angleseys? Doesn't seem possible. Someone on...
Love the coat. Noble House has gotten some bad press over the years here on the Fl, so it's nice to hear that perhaps they've sorted out some problems. Things can change with time. Anyway, Happy New Year and all the best.
I'd think El Marro's comment about Vanson jackets is pretty accurate. One thing I've noticed over the years on this forum is that whenever this question has come up Vanson always seems to get the highest marks. Good luck.
One thing I noticed in the above comments was that most of you, like me, seem to prefer simple, easy-to-read dials. All three of my watches have twelve Arabic numerals, are very easy to read, and have little else in the way of dials, gauges, etc. I've always wondered why people (mostly guys)...
