My main go-to when not in more formal work attire. Simple, black, semi-stingy, brim up. I have three of these type hats now (this one is a newer Stetson), and keep one at work, one in my black Caddy and one in the hat room.
I have a lot of hats - most more formal - and love ‘em all, but this...
‘Afternoon!
New to me Knox Twenty. Very dirty overall and has a good sized, rather unsightly moth gouge on the right side up top mid-back (All the other uglies you see are light stains). Nice felt. Nice light gray. I’ll have it cleaned and blocked to make it look a little more purdy, but will...
Thanks. I have four from John. Only one I had him make and it took a month, maybe five weeks. Honestly I can’t see him saying a year either (now at least, not sure about the past). He’s good to work with but - to be fair - a bit pricey. He truly prides himself on unique customs and knows my...
Thanks. I’m a bass player and was given the nickname “Thunder Fingers” from my band mates. It’s the nickname of the late great John Entwhistle from The Who. He was also went by “The Ox”. I’ll take Thunder Fingers. :)
Here’s another Brass Rooster custom I wear at gigs. Note the bass strings...
Thanks. It’s a very dark charcoal. I have one from John (Brass Rooster) in black cherry which is very rich black with the cherry tint only showing in bright daylight, and another from John in black which is just a nice dark shade of black with no color tint at all.

Brass Rooster custom (just picked it up!) Color in the first photo is the most accurate. Love the vintage green band and binding. This will be one of my “band hats”.
Hopefully it’ll keep cooling down so I can pull out all my felts soon...

Pleasant day for felt. Finally! Dobbs Twenty was the choice. It’s one of my knock-abouts that I enjoy wearing quite a bit lately.

I tend to wear my hats brim up about 50% of the time. For me it's more about being formal (primarily brim down on medium to wide brim fedoras) or informal (brim up and stingy to medium wide brims). I like wearing them both ways equally! :)
And Zombie, that pork is killer!

Funny, I only wear three or four hats all summer (two straws and two felts), so I don’t stop in as often as I do in cooler weather. I need to change that!!! :)
Here’s one of my summer felts. Brass Rooster custom. Simple, clean and lean. Enjoy!

I like to check out what you guys are wearing every few days, but find myself not posting much in the summer. Not wearing felt often in this ugly 90 degree mess, so I stick with a few choice “straws”.
Did a gig in the heat last Saturday and wore my Stetson Florentine. Enjoy!

I noticed this too when trying them on in Chicago at a hat store. The one I bought is in my size and fits perfectly, but others marked my size did not.

My Stetson Florentine Milan on this hot day. As per the discussion above, yes, these are definitely synthetic. Not cool but not too hot to wear.
Enjoy.
