Himel Bros have a fantastic Monarch horsehide jacket that uses elastic in place of the side straps.
Aero used to do this on the Crop Duster, but they've since discontinued that model. But if you're getting a new jacket then it might be worth asking.
Nice jacket there Butte, and a civillian Good Wear makes a change. I don't think that I've ever seen a bad one off John, but that looks fantastic.
I've got one on order too. I'm worried that Worf is going to slim down, and start looking hopeful by the time it arrives! :D
Aero had one of their wool / leather halfbelts on the sale page a while back, and it was described as coming back into production soon. No idea if that was pre or post Will, though.
Great jackets Plumbline and Schitzo. I'm trying to fight off jacket acquisition syndrome here...
I thought that Plumbline's original Alexander fit OK, but the new ones look a lot better.
I've got a feeling that the Trail Rider is also a very trim fit.
Schizo, if you want to visit Galashiels then take the train from London to Carlisle (3 1/4 hours), then the X95 bus out there (about another 2 hours). You could do it in a day at a push, and the cost would be around £100, cheaper...
It's a tenet of my religion that the more distressed and abused a leather jacket is, the better it looks.
So go for aniline, and accept each water spot as another step towards nirvana. :D
I'd go for a Cafe Racer over an A2.
I tried on an Eastman A2 a couple of weeks back, and it was quite a boxy cut, and really didn't work for my body shape. A Cafe Racer, made a couple of inches longer (say a 28" to 30") would probably be a more flattering look, particularly if I continue to...
At 6'3" with a 47" chest, I don't think that I'm going to fit into anything by any of the Japanese makers. :)
I've got a Good Wear on order, and I'm currently leaning towards getting a Californian Racer, but built a couple of inches longer. So proportionally it'd be something like a 27" or 28"...
I was wondering if anyone could advise on Irvin sizing.
Simon's web page suggests that the chest size is 2" to 4" below twice the pit-to-pit measurement. (So a jacket that's 24" pit-to-pit would fit a 44" to 46" chest.) Aero tend to use 4" to 5", and I'm guessing that a shearling jacket is...
Apparently Colin Farrell has one. So that makes three of us. :)
I tried the Hippie on at Aero last year, and it was a size too small for me. Otherwise I'd have probably had it.
The trick is to find some poor sap to do the heavy lifting for you. :D
My favourite jacket at present would be the Aero Six Pocket Hippie. I prefer it to the original because it's been stripped back.
Leather? It would have to be the cod tanned deerskin from a little tannery in Germany. Aero...
Worf, it might be worth looking for a motorcycle leather repairs shop or tailor who could tweak the sleeves. Dr H had his Goodwear A1 doctored, and that sorted out his sleeve issues.
Or get the buttons resewn on the outside of the cuff, and wear them turned up, which looks rather rakish...
That's my old jacket. It was always a size or so too big, and I'm not the man I was. It fits Worf a lot better than it ever did me, so I think that it was actually made for him, I just didn't realise it at the time. I'm glad it's found a good home. :)
It was actually a Cossack that was heavily...
I'd say Dutch too. In fact, I found a similar HA Lederkleding jacket for sale over there.

€25 if you're a 42 or 44 chest.
I'm actually very much of the opinion that you should have fewer jackets.
The best looking leathers are ones that have been worn to death, and then some. If you've got half-a-dozen jackets then they're not going to see enough action to get to that sort of state.
