Yes I had a hard time telling what the Glacier really looked like and I remember you guys buying the felts. When I saw the hats you had made and how nice they look I was sorry I did not jump on that too. Your hat does look wonderful.
Thanks, I got it before Art retired but I have not had it out in a while. It is/was an off the rack hat so it was a great deal. Not sure if VS is still selling them that way. I was coveting some other members hat the other day and I figured out this hat is very similar to the one posted but...
You (like all of us) are paying a lot more attention to how a hat looks on you than anyone else is. If people seem to looking or staring a little bit, the odds are they just see a guy wearing a hat not the brim width unless it's really big or something. Some people are looking to try to figure...
Is it tapered? A pic would help I suppose. I was really surprised I could not find a photo of one, I didn't realize that old Stetson blocks are kind of mysterious.
Ok I will try this question here. What makes a playboy hat a playboy? I know it is light felt and no liner and the stitched brim. What are the typical factory dimensions? Crown height? Ribbon width 7/8" or? What is the block used? I can never find a decent one in my size that is not really...

If the hat is a really nice hat, especially if it is vintage, and you are worried you will be making a mistake, just do what we would do. Buy another hat with a different brim width. Shorter brimmed hats are not hard to come by on ebay and such. I had qualms about getting a 2 1/4" brim as I...
If you read through this thread you will see Mr. P reportedly adds his own stiffener. If you talk to him he may be able to add more depending on how stiff you want it. He may have western weight felts too but I am not sure how many colors he has in those.
Yes, that is where I got this one. I think their inventory is dwindling down. David Morgan has the Sydney too in a couple of colors but none left in my size.
The Fedora model has reportedly been discontinued. If I had gotten one earlier I would have probably wound up with a couple of more. I always thought they looked a little small in photos but it is at least as big as a modern stratoliner.
