Good points. Granted - if an organization wants to have the widest base of sponsorship possible - they have to make themselves as palatable as possible to the widest audience, ignorance or not.
I was wondering about that. I've kept asking, "what has happened to the Confederate Air Force? In all honesty the word confederate/confederation is a reference to a type of agreement or alliance amongst a group of sovereign political entities - so I fail to see the problem with that...
Living in the Far East, titles are integral to conversation. One of the first questions a Vietnamese will ask you is "How old are you?" this is because pronouns have inherent age or sex built into them, "older brother, uncle, grandma, etc." Most of my students call me "teacher", even though I...
I'm 74 inches, 70 kilos, 32 waist with fairly long arms. I have a US Authentic A2 in 40 - I've found that the arms were a bit long the jacket was entirely to wide. The chest was a bit large, but the waist was much too baggy. I wish I could get the waist taken in, but it's just not worth ruining...
I really miss getting good dark beers, living in St Paul had these in spades. I think Founders is quite good, cheaper and a bit sharper was the Summit Porter. All I get these days is cheap lager - man I miss the porters.
I'm running out of tobacco, I've got about one bowl left of Dark English (I love latakia) and only a few bowls left of even the cheap junk Captain Black. It's hard to get even mediocre stuff in this county, back to no pipe smoking because cigarettes are just gross. AAGGH!
Butte, Worf - you guys make me smile. Come down to see China Beach anytime.
Anyways, back to the Dr. Who Jacket. Besides Bad Wolf, Magnoli, what are the others?
Civet coffee, is it good?
Heck yes - I drink it here in Vietnam on a regular basis. It's so much better than ordinary coffee- not acidic, naturally sweet and (ironically) chocolaty. It sounds gross - animal poop coffee, but goodness - I'm a believer! If you like coffee and you try it, you...
I got a tailor here in Vietnam to make me a Hughes jacket. It wasn't perfect, the collar and lapels weren't quite right Indy would have done a better job, but I think that a custom water buffalo jacket for less than $200 was nothing to complain about. I put snaps on the collar to keep them from...
As you can see, USAuth has mixed reviews, I've heard some very negative stories about their craftsmanship, and very positive as well. My own jacket has a great color, 2 years later the knits are in perfect condition - so that is something to keep in mind.
That's a very sweet jacket major, it has that archetypal wartime fit and finish - even if such a thing never truly existed. It's very much "the old soldier" that has seen a lot of action over the skies of Europe. Maybe some would complain that it isn't rock-hard horse hide, but hey it's got...
I was just on another thread about B3s. In the opinion of Andrew (and he is VERY knowledgeable about jackets) the best B3 is by Real McCoy's New Zealand, followed by Eastman. So that's probably where you should look for accuracy. If they are out of your price range, any of the other companies...
Andrew,
How would you rank the accuracy of B3 jackets by the various companies: excellent, good, OK, lousy - of the following companies:US Wings, Gibson Barnes, Aero, USauthentic, Real Mcoys, ELC,
Cirrus, Lost Worlds? I don't know if you have actually tried all of them, I was just...
US Authentic, is as authentic as the average person will ever see or notice. I've got a USAuth A2, and I've never run into anyone who told me, "Your stitches per square inch are not right, the sleeve taper is incorrect, etc.." I've run into plenty of people however that think it's a great...
