Actually, a holiday to a distillery sounds like a fairly good idea. The question is who goes with you: your wife or your mates? Or is that a question worth asking?
Nice video. I started using a straight razor when I was 22, and after some practice, I don't find it that difficult. Actually, I get fewer cuts with a straight razor than a cartridge razor. I can shave with a straight blade with no mirror if I need to, but a mirror makes things easier. Any...
I almost bought a Royal Portable, glass keys and black shiny finish - but I was a broke college student at the time. Now being out of the US, I wonder if I'll be able to get one. Ah, such a shame.
I think 2 A2 jackets is a good number. I'd like to get a seal one, that way I'd have 1russet, 1seal. I'd maybe patch one, and leave the other plain. Perfect
It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who uses a straight razor. Getting the proper cream over here is nigh unto impossible. I use whatever I can get.
I used Pacific Aces quite alot a few years ago. It's basically IL2 though. My favorite American plane was the Corsair, the way it got speed in a dive and didn't lock up (like the P38) made it great for Boom n Zoom. There's something great about landing the Ensign Eliminator on a carrier too.
Well I've always wondered, we have a trenchcoat thread, we have an Irvin thread, we have "Show us your 1920s suits" thread. Why don't we have a "show us your new leather jacket" thread? It would make it easier for viewing and discussion purposes, instead of starting 3 or 4 new "here's my new...
This is said by a member of a forum known to be inhabited by people who wear: boater hats, fleece Irvin jackets, spectator shoes, spear point collars etc.. ;)
If you want to wear the Doctor's coat - go for it, just remember that you have to "own" the look and accept the odd looks you'll get...
Overall I think it is a great jacket, and the remake is an improvement. But along with Edward, I think the hand-warmers were a better idea. I love patch pockets - I've got an A2 - but the hand warmers made the jacket a bit cleaner looking and more unique. We've got enough leather flight jackets...
Ma'am, and Sir. Are they too formal?
Having lived in the Deep South for a few years of my childhood I was taught to always use those terms addressing people. Then I moved north for several years and kept getting sour looks and comments from people. They thought I was being sarcastic or...
Cottus - you're about my height, your only a little heavier than me - a 44 jacket would swallow you (in my opinion). What you can do is get a 40 or a 42, check it out and if it is not the right size, send it back and get the other size. However, I understand that the shipping charges and hassle...
I am 6'2", 155lbs, 32" waist, and I actually prefer a 39" suit jacket. But I got my A2 in 40", it is actually a bit too wide in the waist for me, and even too wide in the arms. The back length of the USAuthentic 40 was ok, but the arms were actually a touch long (not enough to make me send it...
"You aren't supposed to fall off your bike at any speed,"
Really, Aw man - why didn't you tell me that before? If I had known that it would have saved me a lot of pain and suffering. I thought horse hide was so tough it could protect me from pulled muscles and bruises. Some of us just gotta...
That jacket is in such good shape it is amazing! It's hard to believe that it is an original. The fact that you have info on the person who wore it adds so much value to it, it makes an ordinary piece of equipment "speak".
Do you have any other wartime sheepskins in that good of shape?
Here are a few more shots, with and without flash. Perhaps you can see on my right shoulder and arm some slight scratches. I fell off my bike at about 30mph, I was banged up bad, but the jacket only had a few scratches to add character. So I warrant the horse will be tough.
Personally, if you're getting a US Authentic - I'd recommend a goatskin. Goatskin is more supple, and is actually longer lasting than horse, and a good deal cheaper. Furthermore, if you get into A2 jackets - USAuthentic is considered the "entry level" for reproductions, and you may want to spend...
I've owned my US Authentic for 2 years, It's a heavy duty jacket, but I'll let you make your mind up about the finish - if the pictures are a help. it's russett horse hide
