It wasn't me, I placed a bid of $25 on it, just to see what the final bid was. That bid was the highest until 3 minutes before it ended.
Someone got it for $26.
2 things that I don't understand about caps
#1 I don't get the trend for skinny Ivy's (Duckbill caps).
#2 earflaps. What's up with that? I've picked up newsboys that I liked the looks of, only to find they have earflaps. The first thing I want to do is cut them off.
The temperature has dropped into the low 70's with the no humidity. Wearing my brand new Akubra Stylemaster today. I'm thinking about changing the ribbon to a burgundy shade at some point.

At this point, the height of the crown on the Stylemaster is perfect for my height, build & face. It might be because I frequently switch between newsboy caps and hats. A taller crown looks out of place on me.
I didn't intend to start any controversy.
My 12 year old Stetson never shrunk, so I'm curious about why Akubra shrinks. If a hat rack is the normal for them, then I'll invest in one at some point.
Thanks, but I've heard conflicting opinions on whether hat jacks are really needed. My Stetson Chatham Sovereign is 12 years old and hasn't shrunk.
Why do you suggest that I use one on Akubra?
I've been admiring the Stylemaster hat for a while now and posted a question in the Q & A section about Akubra sizing.
On a whim, I took a drive to Delmonico hatter in New Haven and spent close to 2 hours in Akubra heaven trying on all the various models.
It turns out that in the Akubra...
As a follow up, it appears that in the Akubra world of sizing, I'm a 58. .
On a whim, I took a drive down to Delmonico hatter and tried on several different Akubra models in the store. A size 59 in every model fell down over my ears. Size 58 was perfect. I also learned that I prefer the...
I've got a question regarding Akubra Stylemaster sizing & I see one available in size 58. I'm not sure if it's a good fit size wise for me.
FWIW - My Stetson Chatham is a 7 1/2 with foam padding inserts to bring it down in size a little. All of my newsboy caps are size 59
Do the Akubra run...
I hate those price hikes after an auction has ended. Same for the seller's that lower the price & jack up shipping fees in the hopes no one will notice. [emoji50][emoji848]
If there's a "make an offer" option, I'll always try for at least a 50% reduction in the price.

I'm still pretty amazed at how cool the Wigen's cap is considering it's wool with a quilted lining. My expectation was that it'd be too warm for anything but winter. I've worn it in 80 degrees weather and my head doesn't sweat while wearing it. [emoji106]

Bailey Butler 8 panel flat cap. Bailey calls it Dockman style. This is what they call brick colored. I've got the same thing in light brown.

The temperature got too warm for the wool Wigens newsboy. Breaking out my Alfonso D'este 6 panel linen newsboy. Another sale item I found during a visit to Delmonico hatter in the early spring.

Oh, the Wigens is a 6 panel newsboy cap in what they're calling a contemporary style. It's not as floppy as other newsboy caps. I really like it.

My Bailey Curtis litefelt hat. I've also got it in grey. They've been my daily "beater" hats for a while now. Still doing great.
