A Stetson 7X clear beaver dress hat with mode edge and wide ribbon purchased in 2011. The hat had undergone some modifications from its original owner and was quite soiled from use when it arrived. I sent the hat to Optimo in Chicago where it was cleaned and a new ribbon and sweatband installed...
Old caps were far less likely to survive the depression than old hats. This one was a happy purchase from some years back... it was listed on eBay with a buy it now of $5 but had no takers. I had missed it and the auction expired but saw a note on this thread from esteemed member Lefty. The...
Old caps were far less likely to survive the depression than old hats. This one was a fun purchase from some years back... it was listed on eBay with a buy it now of $5 but had no takers. I had missed it and the auction expired but saw it posted on the Fedora Lounge. The seller was kind enough...
@MikeinRome, I think doing some additional research on eBay bidding practice will help you understand snipes and ease the gripes. Also, please keep in mind that Bill has been a contributing member here for 15 years. I’ve received some incredible vintage hats and valuable hat knowledge from him...

very nice addition!
I have the 13 star imprint on the ride side of the row.

Kind and generous words, thank you. There are a number of tremendous hat collections that have crossed these pages in the 20 or so years the Fedora Lounge has been open. Unfortunately, many of the content links are no longer functional and many members have drifted in and out or moved away...
+1... thanks for sharing. Fur felt of unknown composition and earlier than 1934 from the union label. The feather is likely added at a later time. Wonder if it's hiding some damage or stain and if the original ribbon is still in place underneath. It's a rare bird - enjoy it!
I hate to mess with a historical hat. I have another old nutria furry western (not Stetson) in black with a sunflower yellow ribbon and matching binding in a similar condition. I've left that one original as it is too large for me to wear. This one fits and I didn't think I would wear it outside...
