I believe it is. it's a neat piece, and I'm sure a guy can pull it off just as easily! the cord attaches to a Reed that sits up in the hat at the top of the fabric sweatband stuff. if you want it smaller, you can pull the reed towards the head opening and it shrinks it from a huge size to a 7-7...
