Steam relaxes all the shellac on the straw & then sets back as it cools...not much different from fur felt.... Water does soften the shellac come but the heat of the steam does it better, IMHO... -

Akubra's is okay, crown is a little low for my taste, I trimmed the brim edge off... Christy's = don't waste your time or your money, worst hat buy of mine to date.... -

Sorry, didn't look that close. I have an old Stetson Corral 25 that is similar = raw edge but otherwise OR dimension but it has 2 ply ribbon. -

Yep, thought it may be, & probably why no "Open Road" is stamped on it. They would have the 7X CB replacement liners but not OR stamped ones....JMHO -

It used to be a bound edge for the Riverina but it wasn't as wide as current model. -
