I use antiseptic wipes that come in most first aid kits. I wipe down the sweat & liner good & even stick a used hat in the freezer for a few days if it is really experience. I always treat the sweat with Lexol leather conditioner & cleaner too.
I've used double-sided tape but mostly just tuck behind the sweatband...
I've sent off quite a few to be refurb'ed so I take the older liners out & clean them up for use later...
