I have used single sheet cardboard, like the paperboard one a legal pad tablet. I cut it into strips about 3/4 wide and put it behid folded down sweatband pushed down as low as possible. I'm a 7 1/8 + and I get 7 1/4 hats and do this. Foam makes the sweatband go wonky and felt usually is too...
The D-P plant in Garland is in a warehouse/logistics complex. I stumbled upon it one day by accident when I was looking for another warehouse. I then was looking on the Milano website for info on a 500x Larry Mahan hat I got from Ebay and found out that D-P bought Milano a few years back and has...
Be asked to loan a few hats for groomsmen for a wedding? For other events?
It is (and was) western hats and they are mostly beaver or 100% beaver but not some one-off super special vintage lids.
I was hesitant but in both cases they were great friends and knew the importance of taking good...
IN the pictures it looks to me like it has gaps on both sides at temple area. I have a long or even extra long oval noggin and I have to dampen the inner brim a bit with distilled water on a cloth and put a hat on and pull it down and let it dry for a while on my head in order to get a truly...
Eric,
With hats like those I'd find every place that etiquette allows a hot to remain on and make sure I spent as much time as possible in those places.
Who want to take either of those off?
Does the moss green get to go for a swim as an initiation too?
: )
Great Video.
I was a bit shocked. I had EXTREME respect for Roy Rogers and know he was a great gentleman with no "airs" about him but I really would have expected his staff would handled all his hat issues. To see him working that hat was incredible. It showed me that it was FAR from his first...
I think those are void of photos. I will explain as best I can: The leather sweatband can be made in a couple of basic ways. One is the non-reeded where the edge of the leather is directly sewn to the felt. The other is reeded where there is a vinyl tape folded in half longways with a plastic...
I can't figure out how to post photos in a reply to a thread. Posting to start a thread is no problem since the toolbar shows up. I have tried a few times to post a photo in the Post New Hats and What Hat Are You Wearing Today threads and I can't get the tool bar to show. I click +Reply to...
What the world needs is fiber optic grosgrain and a small enough changeable color light source to go into crown. Deciding on just one color for that gorgeous hat is a daunting task.
That poor pup looks like it will have a life full of the same abuses my poor Arthur the Golden Retriever has had. Such abuses as having to go for car rides, trips to the pet superstore for toys and the cashier dispensed treats, endless days of chasing things thrown by loving owners, enduring...
Nice cap but I think you could become the Fedora Donning First Responder. Imagine the extra benefit of having a fedora to fan fainted persons with. Ball caps just don't have that level of air movement.
You must have Canyon confused with some other town like Marfa.
Canyon is 35 miles south of Amarillo on I-27. It is sort of the gateway to Palo Duro Canyon.
I saw that one and it is a nice and unusual hat.
The red liner is a new one on me in a fedora. Does that brand it as a Canadian or other non-US manufacture?
The double rows of stitching on brim inside the bound edge are also something I have not seen before.
I have a Stetson 100% beaver silver belly that I got 90 weight gear lube on. I dosed that spot 4 times with baby powder, cleaning the baby powder off with a brush before each new application. I was amazed that it cleaned it so well. The awful odor of that stuff is gone and I can't tell which...
Joe's Boot Shop (joesbootshop.com) has made some purchase of a truckload of Hatco (stetson and resistol company) hats in several colrs in 20X quality. I do not find anything on their site so I guess it means a phone call. One of those in silver belly would be a good one to test out.
They are...
Wouldn't a genuine Stetson renovation use a sweatband of like quality as original? That looks like a very low grade non-reeded sweat to me.
Since the liner is not Stetson I would assume the hat shop embossed it just to note it was a stetson and not their own product.
I am suspicious about this one. Why cut off the "Whippet" that would have been in the liner in the photo?
The ribbon looks narrow to me too.
Me thinks the seller took a Whippet-esque RS and sold it as a Whippet.
