I contend western hats have not lost even one tiny bit of their cool. I think there are just fewer cool people to wear them. I do hope that this turns around.
They can have my hat when they pry it out of my cold dead hands. Wait, they'd better not do that as I will haunt them. I want to be...
Great Homburg AnA.
I wonder if the plum ribbon was the original color or if age has changed it from navy.
My thought is that the ribbons age in a red direction. I can't believe the light grey hats I've got with tannish-pinkish hues to the grey ribbon were that color from the start. It is not...
Justin and Alex, Thank You.
Both of you rock your fedoras.
I will probably bookmark the photos in this thread so I can show them to anyone who calls my fedoras "old man hats".
I've already had to play the Johnny Depp card for some whose opinion was that they weren't cool.
When I was about 2 years old I picked up one of my dad's fedoras and dropped it over my head. I was fascinated by it and every time I was missing they would find me trying to get to one of the hats.
My older sisters discovered when they were charged with babysitting me all they had to stop me...
I sure remember him. I bought a $5 collection of OLD John Wayne westerns (when it looked like Duke had to get pass from school to work in the movies) and they had Hayes in almost every one of them.
Are you sure that is a hat carrier? It looks like a freeze proof horse waterer with a mirror on...
I wear a felt hat when traveling and I will not let them pass it through X ray machine bare. They will hand check it or they come up with a bag. They get testy but I haven't been arrested yet. There is huge inconsistency in whether I get through with it on my head or they are adamant it goes...
I have read the same thing about LBJ and Resistol San Antonios. When he was in political offices Stetson was still a Yankee hat company. A Texas politician would not likely have worn a Stetson then. Stetson may have gifted hats to him though.
Also it was common for any brand of hat that was...
WOW, I have done a few Homburg conversions and that sure looks like a St Regis. The top side narrow binding is typical of Homburg Stetsons and NOT typical for Whippets. That hat looks like a conversion that wasn't ironed on the bottom side to finish flattening the brim edge curl.
Very curious.
Friend: "what an intersting trim on your lovely hat, may I examine it?"
Joe: "Frayed knot"
Friend: "You don't have to get testy. I assure you I wouldn't have damaged the hat to hold and admire it more closely!"
That is another of Art's awesome creations. Looks great on you.
With that assortment to choose from I'd leave, come back, leave, come back, leave, come back, and finally leave.
What a decision. I do concur that the Imperial Stetson is the #1 pick.
CCC,
What movie or TV series is your avatar from. It looks familiar but I can't remember where from.
Your new hat is terrific! Oregon seems to have become the hat state. Fawcett, Miller, and Allison are all there.
