So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Update: payment successfully stopped / cancelled.

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Filed a report with the postal police who issued 2 case numbers: one for the opened mail and another for the stolen check. We'll see how that unfold. Girl taking the report wasn't very impressive in her engagement or her english diction. Meanwhile MnL is trying to stop payment on the check...

Personal check. Can't get through to the bank until morning. Wife filed report with PO. Unfortunately no tracking, after all what could possibly happen? Mom in law very trusting.

Sadly apropos to today's discussion: Mom in law sent an Easter card with 6k check in on Monday. Card arrived this afternoon (Thursday), envelope had been opened and the check was missing. USPS is a closed system is it not? Gee, who could have taken it?

Been there, done that (see my post above from a few months ago). They ALL do it. Our issue was with FedEx. UPS has been better, go figure.

That does seem to be the pervasive, if tacet, mantra of those in certain quarters.

    Your Most Disturbing Realizations

Ever since I read this comment when it was first posted some 7 years ago, it has quite literally haunted me. Yeah, it's been quite some time since birthdays were fun.

That's ok, we all know that genuine reality can only be found on the internet.

So it seems that "bruh" has replaced "bro" in urban vernacular? How does that work? Has there been an inordinate influx of Germans recently?

    What's the worst coffee worldwide?

Thanks, I'll have to give it a try.

    What's the worst coffee worldwide?

I've never knowingly had chicory coffee. What is it like? I understand a "coffee" can be made from roasted dandelion roots (which are related to chicory). And likely other roots as well.

    Experimenting on foods.

I did my corned beef this year in the crockpot (slow cooker), and it was incredible, simply incredible! Anyone bake or otherwise roast their cb? What's that like?

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

I find it amusing, in a very cynical way, to see service/trade vehicles with advertisements on the sides hawking "free inspections" for this and that. Today I saw one for a free basement inspection for waterproofing. So it's basically: "I'll come into your home for free and paint a picture of...

    “Casablanca” 80th anniversary

The Harmetz Making of Casablanca and the Critical Insights series volume for Casablanca, by Plath, are insightful and good reads if one is so inclined.

    What's the worst coffee worldwide?

Believe it or not there are those who actually like it that way. I used to have a neighbor who did. Coffee tastes different depending on how it's made and how it is preserved. When i make a drip pot (wire mesh filter basket) at home I turn the maker off soon after the pot is done filling. Then...

    What's the worst coffee worldwide?

I've been taking mine black since junior high, nearly 50 years now. Though, I do on occasion enjoy it with a bit of cream, or even more rarely with both cream and sugar. I've found that sweet creamy cup of coffee can help with a headache. Bitter (burnt a la Starbucks is an entirely different...

    What's the worst coffee worldwide?

A great many people, myself included, share your view of Starbucks. When pressed to go there (which, fortunately, is very seldom), I usually stick with the froo froo drinks. I just cannot stomach their coffee. It really is an eye-opening experience when you have REAL coffee for the first time...

Social Media for those of a certain age?

[edit: best not to comment beyond acknowledgement] Ok. I wouldn't have guessed.

Forgive me, but, what is that supposed to mean?
