That is a fairly early one.....1910-1920 or so........the design is called "Greek Key".
Interesting in that it advertised hats, without picturing one.......
Circa 1870 or so salesman's card. "Buffalo Robes" is very telling...the buffalo were pretty much hunted out by 1875 with less than 100 remaining in 1880.
Here is a billhead (not mine) from them showing their storefront and dated 1871 from the "Historic New England" web site.......
and...
Circa 1885 when "The Boston Shoe Store:" came to town.
THIS ad is from the Scranton Historical SOCIETY (Scranton Truth newspaper) showing them in a different (presumably bigger) location by 1890.
Here is a Stetson Sovereign Twenty from the 60's (I think they stopped making the mode edge around 64-65?).
This was an interesting rough project hat. Short Crown around 5" with a 1 7/8" mode edge brim.
So....I stripped out the liner (which was sewn), tags and wind cord....leaving the roan...
Sounds right up my ally........Message me some photos and what you are thinking price-wise....
I post a lot of my stuff here in these threads:

Olive Drab Borsalino "Vitali" mid ribbon. VERY nice thin felt....very lightweight.
The bottom two are with and without the flash....neither shows the color right.
Has a nice rich brown satin liner.......:)
These are great shots......I wondered if they were not comments on the dog wanting a sip too.;)
I had both a horse and a Scottish Shetland (they are like mini draft horses, very stout build, bred to pull ore carts in mines) that liked beer.......a LOT. :)
