HNC Hatworks (formerly known as Agnoulita Hats)

So I finally received my hat bodies and the brim is plenty wide but the crown is a lot shorter than I hoped. The owner never responded to emails so I wasnt sure exactly what I was getting. Any idea where I can get a similar 100% rabbit or beaver with a taller crown? I was planning on fepsa next...

HNC Hatworks (formerly known as Agnoulita Hats)

I was considering using paint grade mdf as it is only $36 for a 4x8 sheet. It's easy to shape and sand but finishes harder than balsa. I too was planning the layered block and just cutting the shapes with a reciprocating saw. The layers will also be convenient for multiple crown shapes needing...

https://www.thefedoralounge.com/media/psx_20181023_154942-1209x1209.2058/full I wonder if it works as a link. I may have added it improperly somehow.

The first one I did I posted in conversion corral. It was an old cowboy hat I found. I didn't have anything but a kettle an iron and a sewing machine for that one. I anticipate the ones I make brand new should be even better.

HNC Hatworks (formerly known as Agnoulita Hats)

I have already begun making most of the tools I will need. I work in a shop with and have myself most of the woodworking tools needed to make the hat making tools. The only thing I'm lacking is a bandsaw large enough for making a real wood block. I'm shopping for the saw but in the meantime may...

HNC Hatworks (formerly known as Agnoulita Hats)

Gotcha, from some of your photos it had seemed you ordered some hats blocked and banded but unshaped then did the shaping yourself. I figured you were finishing some as well. I have a few bodies on the way to start making my own, I just haven't squared away exactly how I am going to make a few...

DH, what are you using here to spin the hat? I've been weighing out what options would be the easiest or least expensive but still effective.

that's probably what I'll go with to start then. Thanks for the info. There isn't much info on blocking top hats but with a puzzle block it seems doable. The only thing is, I can imagine western bodies might be more suitable but adding stiffener should suffice

I just wasnt sure how the other options would work for mens hats. The antelope finish looks nice online. I emailed the owner a couple questions I had. I would also like to try and make top hats.

That makes sense. I guess I will make due with the mens selection until I can get my hands on more. I just really like the wider brims and lighter colors.

They seem like they might be good for someone just making hats for themselves, but I would like to sell them eventually, and would need consistant inventory. It was to my understanding though that if you are buying in quantities for a shop, that fepsa was a good option. Any idea how the...

Ok, I will have to reconsider them then. I have heard of Winchester having some issues but people still seemed to hold them in high regard. I had heard fepsa was the best but until I'm doing high volume which will take years i wouldn't be able to get a consistant order from them.

I have looked into them as well and did not know they were tonak bodies but had heard issues with their quality.

The English version seemed like it didn't have all the links when it came to bodies. It would always link me to the foreign language section.

Unless I was looking at the wrong site. It was a .cz site. Then Tonak seemed even more confusing. All I saw were premade hats and some prints for women's hat bodies, but nothing at all like what people have previously mentioned.

I have searched through this site for a few months but have not found a few of the answers I am looking for. If this is the wrong place or format I apologize. I would like to get into hat making and have converted one hat thus far. I have been trying to find body sources and currently...
