Speaking of modern straw hats, I went to the Hat Store in Houston today looking for a hat that would cope with the rising heat and humidity here. I knew they are primarily a western hat store, having descended from the old American Hat Company, but it's where vmtrevino recently purchased the...
Dale, Rick, Harv, moontheloon, David, thanks all for the comments on the OR.
Rick, I'm staying in Houston although the photo was taken at one of my brother's job sites in Bryan. We missed getting to Fargo's BBQ in Bryan because they always sell out early. I have a place in Houston I want to...
It's on my itinerary later this week. The owner is the grandson of the founder of the old American Hat Company.

Nice looking hat, trevino.
Good looking hats all around today, gents.
Stetson Playboy, the one with the rose fade ribbon. This may be my most...
Good to know. As a matter of fact, I'm taking a silverbelly Open Road. I see temperatures projected to be in the 60s to low 70s at night so I should be OK.

I'll be in Houston next week and I'm going with felt.
The humidity and heat might get to me, but I'm afraid of what a thundershower might do to one of my straws. If it gets above 90 I may regret it, but I'll just take the liner out for some relief.
Looks good! I covet your hats, too, I might add. Not a bad one in the bunch. You'll like the BGCD. I think I'm going to have to get one in Silverbelly.
Dave, your CD looks great, and the Fed matches up well with the attire, too.
Gray Borsalino Alessandria today.
Every now and then you have to give in to a hankerin'...:)
A big hat for a Big Gulp. The crease looks good.
Greg--nice subdued Glen plaid patterned cap. You always sport a jaunty look with your caps.
Borsalino today. This hat takes whatever shape I give it, not a bit of stiffness or...
Thanks, guys, but it's just sugar from the powdered donuts I ate. ;)
Really, though, I'm taking a break from work and just didn't feel like shaving.
Nice hats today, everyone.
Thanks, Alan and Perry.
Beautiful Strats, tommyK and David.
tommyK--the new crease in your Bushman is what I call a modified cattleman's crease, which I have put into some of my thin-ribbon hats. Here is a post with photos in another thread...
I walked down to the local coffee roasters to pick up a pound of dark roast. I told the proprietor what I wanted.
"Good idea!" he said.
"Nice hat!" he said.
This began a conversation about blocking hats, modern hats, and hat wearing. Turns out his grandparents were hat makers in...
Joao--starting the day off nicely with the Resistol. You really have to come over to the US and visit the western states. You will fit right in.
S-4-C--nice teardrop crease in the Royal Stetson.
HW--nice conversion, it looks great, and a nice match for the jacket.
Greg--another stellar cap...
