Seller lists suit as from the '30s, but the dropped belt loops say '40s to me. It even lacks cuffs. Could it be a rationed wartime suit?

I actually bought a 1940's tie from a salvation army that had been completely un-stitched and re-sewn to 1970's width. My guess is that the owner liked the pattern or color a lot and/or couldn't find the modern equivalent and therefore had it retro fitted.
I've seen that with other '40s suits before, but sadly in the '60s everyone was so obsessed with being modern and up to date it didn't matter to them that they were destroying history.
