That's great! Thank you. I'd searched various terms looking for an original (or at least the inspiration), and came up dry. ~ S.

Ask a question, get an answer

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I shall frame the following in the form of a question: Have you ever seen this advertising from Farmall, either in vintage archives or-- as here-- in current reproduction? ... I was expecting a curveball at work, but instead was beaned, leading to...

I have a modern Navy Whippet, and it is notoriously difficult to photograph! It hews closely to true navy blue-- a good blue-- that while dark, will not be mistaken for black. Except, perhaps, in pictures. ~ S.

    M.C. Gannon Hat Company

How wonderful! Your hat looks terrific on you. I love my granite Gannon as well-- it's a great color. I receive more compliments on my two Gannon hats than 'most all the others, combined. Congratulations. :) ~ S.

At such a great price, there has to be a catch. Wait, you didn't list the shipping cost. That's where you were going to spring the Gotcha!, right? Nice try. ~ S.

    Akubra Overload

:D Ayup! My Banjo Patterson reads roughly as a Riverina on my small, narrow noggin! ... Okay, maybe a Cattleman, but you get the point. o_O This of course leaves me fascinated by pictures such as @RJR in his: Y'all explain the proportional phenomenon and visual outcomes well, above...

I cannot speak to the quality of each hat, but for me the proof's always in the pudding wearing. My quick first impression is that, of these three, the cant of the crown and overall proportions of the hat at the front left -- the 40s/50s Canadian Stetson-- would likely suit you best. But, this...

    Akubra Overload

Ah, good news! At the same time, that seems like a lot of trouble on Akubra's part-- time and labor, with an uncertain outcome-- vs. a straight swap for an accurate size. At the same time, I can understand why they would not want to open the door to "Buy it there, exchange it here"...

    The Conversion Corral

Another fantastic conversion! I don't often have the time I'd like to pore over these threads and posts, but as I scrolled down through, this image stood out: Fascinating, how subtle/slight choices in dimension (plus felt color, plus ribbon treatment, plus shirt color, plus... coffee mug?!)...

    Looking for hat information?

The fun part being, JJ Hat Center's "Asher" is produced with an Inwood label inside. At least, that's what mine has! o_O ~ S.

To my eye, Steel does keen blue? Which I welcome, loving blue. (I also tend to wear blue, and have blue eyes, all of which may contribute to the impression.) Here are Gannon hats in Granite and Steel, respectively, sporting the same ribbon. I remain fascinated by the interplay of the colors of...

HOLY GRAIL? /What fedoras are you pining for?

Welp, I now pretty much straight-up want a hat like the one Buckaroo Hatters/@majormoore made for Rodney Crowell, which I'd missed until @RBH posted this video: The trick being to scale it down to crest at about 4" or so, open like that. Dreams. ~ S.

    South Africaner Fedora

Perhaps obvious, but the hat in question is not a "South Afrikaner" hat, but a modern hat (circa 2005) chosen by the singer-- Bok van Blerk (Louis Pepler)-- for effect. While the hat could have been procured for him by a costume department, Pepler bills himself as an "Outdoors man!" (emphasis...

    South Africaner Fedora

The singer's hat: Looks like a possibly bigger brim than on a Fed(?-- not so much from the side, but from the top), but with a crown/crease I've seen achieved on a number of hats featured here, especially Akubras. Good luck! ~ S.

    Akubra Campdraft

Thanks for the update, and no worries on your stated concerns. The opposite, really: all feedback is helpful, if not always comfortable. You and the hat both look much more relaxed. :) ~ S.

    Akubra Campdraft

    1) My Campdraft (Moonstone, Heritage) quickly announced itself for that role, unprompted. I love it for what it is, and did not purposefully appoint it my "You! Out in the Rain!" hat. Yet, it so clearly handles 'weather' well, I relish having such a great, non-Ugly-Rain-Hat go-to regardless...

    I love the Fed IV!!

Do any of you have this actual hat? From the images above, I'd think the hat would simply look mis-creased (y'know, like when one rests a formerly open-crown hat properly on one's noggin and realizes that one failed to center the front pinch with the hat/one's nose when creasing?...) vs. the...
