Does anybody have a pair of the tapered fit? I'd prefer straights. The skinnies would put me into mutton/lamb territory but I can get my hands on the tapered now.
As a teenager I used to wear one of these. It was passed down from my dad who had got it from his father, who had commanded an LRDG unit in the desert. By the time it reached me it was quite a bit the worse for wear and I don't know what happened to it. Coming from a military family there was no...
It all went downhill after 'Setting Sons'...
...Anyway, I know it's been said before, but wouldn't it be better/easier/cheaper/100% more authentic to just buy an old German police jacket off the 'bay?
The Jam - pretty life-defining, really, for gents of a certain age. The Style Council - still defining the worst, ass-photocopyingly horrible moments of any given office party.
Could someone please identify the hat that's being worn in the BK Westfall pics in the second half of this thread? http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?73548-Bill-Kelso-Mfg-Official-Affiliate-Thread&p=1718646&viewfull=1#post1718646
The shape is exactly what I've been looking for...
Doursoux in France do some B-15s: http://doursoux.com/en/search?controller=search&orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=b-15
No idea as to their quality, though. And while it isn't a B-15, Aero sells the Pike Bros B-10, which I've had my eye on.
Could this sudden re-animation be due to The Day of The Doctor, (the Dr Who 50th anniversary special that went out last weekend, for those without kids/non-Whovians, etc)? John Hurt wears an exceedingly knackered brown Kriegsmarine-style coat to good effect. But there again, John Hurt could...
Very nice! You've really nailed the Hercules. Plus it really helps to see the jackets being worn.
...By the way, can anybody tell me what hat is being worn here? I've been looking for that particular style for a long time...
If you look at Mark's FB page he has an illustration from an early catalogue - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=333017556838480&set=a.273188702821366.1073741828.273183072821929&type=1&theater. Those early jackets were cut very loose, and surprisingly long.
Nice find. You used to be able to pick these up (in the UK) for pennies 30 or so years ago - mostly Civil Defence ones (with CD buttons in black bakelite) - but wartime ones seem to have become rare. I wonder if the 'Pattern N.F.S.' differs from the C.D. one?
Speaking for myself, I'd have been delighted if my old Aero FQHH halfbelt had worn in as quickly as his. I dig that scuffed look. I'm with Butte on this one: leather is an organic material, no matter how many chemicals you slather it with. People seem to think wear is a bug, but it's a feature...
