Deflecting what precicely ....... if youve nothing constructive to add then it's probably best you stay away from the keyboard HD ..... and your personal gripe with me is petty and somewhat embarassing.
Not sure it is a "Made in England" ... I think it's Nigel Cabourn's label which says "Nigel Cabourn ..... England"....... so it will have to say either made in the UK or Made in Scotland on the info label within the jacket if that is where it was manufactured.
.... now don't drag this thread...
Hey Rocketeer ... The eastman lends itself to this as the cuffs are leather lined .... The aeros show sheepskin when turned up ...... Which I'm not a big fan of :(
As many know ... I'm not a big button fan but the ones on the Aero Anj weren't much of an issue as the horsehide was quite...
As far as I am aware, from discussions, the only differences between Warhawk and CXL is that Warhawk ( in both std. and Vintage form) has not been hand glazed (by deliberate design) and as a result has a more grainy "face" ..... either way it sounds mighty nice ............. and choice is good...
My Eastman .....
and my two last Aero's ... first 44" std finish
2nd - 42" slightly distressed finish
Both Aero's now sold ...... but the Eastman prevails :D
We've gone fronm trusting people to "judging" people .. it's a interesting change. Stop dragging things down to "Press" level ..... this was quite an inocuous post about Warhawk hide the inuendo and guttersniping is unnessecary and not particularly helpful or in fact adding anything to the...
People who know told me ..... lets leave it there ...... for now. I wait and see what the samples are like when it arrives, I'll judge what I see and feel rather than heresay, gossip or rumour all I know for a fact is that the name "Warhawk " is Horween's not Alexanders and it's combination...
Nice :D .. I have one very similar in medium weight horse with a shearling lining and mouton collar ... it's one of my faves and the LHB design is a very practical season design for a temperate climate like the UK's.
Wear it well .... and don't worry about the sleeves ... they look fine :)
Hey Schitzo ..... depends on how formal you want ....
Hard to beat the old Schott 740N Peacoat as a great winter coat over a shirt or shirt and pullover. Mine is 5 years old and shows NO sign of wear or distress .... I think it'll outlast me and I picked it up for £65 on the bay BRAND NEW ...
Indeed Steve .... it's a fine jacket ..... but I now have a one in one out rule :( ( actually it's SWMBO's rule ... I just have to comply :D)
The colour looks about right .... it has two inner pockets and no studs on the outer flap pockets .... Strome lining and bottom 3" in Moleskin. It has...
I have samples of the CT Horse and the Vintage CT horse ... the latter is STUNNING. SO STUNNING that I traded in my Vintage Steer Drifter against a new design jacket ( think JC's Ventura crossed with the Old Aero Californian with a little bit of Sears thrown in for good measure ) in Vintage...
I was told by a number of reputable players in the industry it's because you don't need such big panels of leather without marks, scars etc ..... and the seam becomes the "weak point" in the panel. It also means that utilisation of a fixed square footage of hide is less and thus the hide cost...
Never been a fan of multiple panel backs .... can see the appeal from a styling perspective but just doesn't do it for me. A bit like multi colour e.g. black and brown ... I think both are sort of marmite things. Some of it may be legacy issues from my motorcycle days when seams were the "weak...
IMHO the most practical of the wartime shearling jackets .... for one reason .... pockets.
Having had 8 ... from 4 different manufacturers ..... 3 x Aero, 3 x Eastman, 1 x Lost Worlds, 1 x US Web based manufacturer I think it was "Flightjackets.com" or their precursor ( It was some time ago...
I must have tried every trick in the book ... and a few which aren't in the book ... there is NO silver bullet, no quick win ... wear it, use it, drive in it, wear it walking the dog ..... it's the only way. You can soften the leather but that's not really what breaking in is about, it's about...
