Very interested Brian .. but it says you won't ship to the UK ( am trying to find a USA solution for delivery ... also could do with some measurements) ... I'm an Aero 44" HBelt / 42" Highwayman .....
Pit - Pit
Shoulder - Shoulder
Pit - Cuff
Collar - Base
Cheers
It's equally NOT the actual Front Quarter ..... but actually both the sides of the horse minus the Shell Butt area, the belly skirt and the lower leg and shin.
So Horse 3/4 would be a more accurate description but it doesn't share the marketing value of "Front Quarter"
HTH :D
Rest assured I'm sure Aero will fix it .. they are very good at resolving this sort of thing and would in no way have intended to cause any frustration or annoyance. As many have said, if it irks that much speak to them, send it back and get it sorted.
The court case as I recall hinged on Derek ( lewis Leathers) claiming that Aero could not use the term Highwayman in the description of the legendary Aero Jacket as the Highwayman Co. ( which Lewis Leathers Purchased ) had rights to this name in the context of leather jackets ... Derek lost and...
I guess Schitzo was commenting that a one piece back would be as per an A2 ...... i.e. the entire back is one piece of leather. Technically the Sheen is two Piece and the Cafe Racer shown is a three piece.
It really is a technicallity though and I can see what both posters mean ..... either...
In general they are pretty good ( AL have only been going for 18 months) ..... I've bought three from their "outlet" and all have been great ( Roadster / Drifter / Simmons Bilt ).
A GREAT call on getting measurements checked ..... and a phone call saves a multitude of dissapointments :D
I've done this with a number of sale jackets and been saved many times with 3 or 4 jacket suppliers ... and not just jackets manufacturers of shirts, t-shirts and jeans also...
Interestingly my Aero and AL halfbelts measure exactly the same length at 26" from collar edge to the bottom of the jacket ... 42" and 44" are an identical length. So pretty much on period pattern if the Ad's are to be believed give or take a 1/2".
I am also always surprised that the ad...
For me it's weather or activity dependent ..
Only really zip or button if it's either too cold or I'm on the bike. If it's zipped or buttoned it's usually NEVER up to the throat .. that's what god made scarves for :D
HTH
I guess this comes as no surprise Schitz .. but it's way too short for my taste and too neat as well ..... but then I'm in the " big as a circus tent" category compared to some ... in fact sloanie and the major had a good chuckle at a clown picture ( The Major\) posted re. my M422 which I...
Re. Open lining .... I thought it was so the buttons could be accessed Edward ?
I've had a few Aero Barnstormers and also a few from another manufacturer ( Sam Walker )
Shearling lining makes for a REALLY bulky jacket .. I'd go for blanket lined with a shawl collar as a maximum...
Some realy interesting stuff ... and very much in Ken's positioning re. genuine vintage repro's .... that cordovan looks like it could be a genuine 30's jacket.
AND some REALLY nice new leathers/hides .... Well done Aero.
I guess the two BIG pluses for me from AL are :
1. I can custom design and there are no real issues ..... guidance yes and sometimes strong discussion ... but no real issues.
2. Turn around is relatively swift (6 - 7 weeks currently )
there are two minor pluses also ... trade in...
The photo of the lining probably is the closest to the actual colour of the leather in normal light .... It's a nice dark Burgundy ( much darker than the vintage Warhawk which has more brown in it ) .... it's very close to Aero's Cordovan and seems to be getting darker with age .. HTH
