Thanks Alan. I was second guessing my dating estimate after seeing a few of your posts, so it does make sense this could be a late 30s hat due to the owner having taken office in 1939.

Has a little moth damage but otherwise is in great shape. Was made specially for the Sheriff of Orange County, CA that held office from 1939-1947.

Not sure why, but I am just more of a thin ribbon guy. It likely goes back to my grandfather and his buddies who all wore thin ribbons back in the day.
