One caveat, Gary's Sand colored Mink/beaver is still my favorites of all. It is light as a feather and the "scratch" finish and color, just amaze me.

Thank you for your kind words, my friends. Here is the comparison that was asked for: Grahams Optimo 1000 in Porcelain white is slightly softer than Gary White's bone. However, the Optimo 1000 is a Beaver/Mink mix and and the GW is just 100% beaver. So I cannot compare the softness of the...

In the book: The Cowboy Hat Book it says that the hat is greased to give a shinier finish to the felt? I believe it is either done during the pouncing or after the pouncing. What exactly IS grease, in this case? Can anyone elaborate on this?

Homburg vs. Fedora? Which would be a better purchase?

A fedora would blend in nicely, or a straw. A bowler for more formal occasions.

AL: You always look good in those hats. I can't imagine you without one. Do you wear it while playing in the orchestra? Alan: Your daughter is very pretty. Hope she does well in school. Also, I have noticed lately that you have an affinity for b/W photographing. I think that the b/w seems to...

Yet another question: does anyone remember what the sandpaper grit grades are for pouncing? I read it somewhere and now I cannot find it? I seem to recall there were 3 grades.

Does anyone know what happens when the brim on a straw hat is cut to a lesser brim width? Other than being shorter, does the edge look like the original edge? Does it look worse? Does it start to fall apart? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks my friends in advance....Dennis
