l can understand both of your feelings. last night l was looking at pics of well dressed blokes in elegant suits and elegant dress shoos. My immediate thought was; `wouldn't it look strange if these blokes wore gunboats with their ltalian suits.
No gunboats with fine suits. l made that...
That medium brown boxcalf gleams in the sun like nothing you've ever seen before, especially an hour or two before dark. Stunning patina in real life (photo's do no justice to the patina).
Note: l don't use the term gunboat like most people use it. Most people use it meaning a double soled brogue (preferably with 360 welt), but l use it to describe any big bulky leather dress shoo.
Anyway....here are some Vass gunboats i've bought over time. l'll post more another day...
My favourite RTW pair ever! Vass 3636 last shell cordovan Wien. These are true beauties and a true man's shoo. More beautiful than any of my Vass F last shoos. l'm going to wear these alot! l love the Wien designs soooo much.
Why not write to Florsheim and ask them (if the writing is still inside, quote it to them) . l wrote to Florsheim last Christmas requesting the date of my NOS v cleats, and got a response within a day or two.
l think many people make out the Florsheim NOS v cleats to be alot older than they...
Top Hat:
those AE's are a very nice colour and the shape looks good from this angle. One thing l don't like about AE brogues is the double set of stitching they use on the uppers, each piece is sewn on by [effectively] 4 stitches.
VASS
A pair l received recently:
Vass `windsor' burgundy shell cordovan with 360 degree goyser welt
They fit perfect and are one of my favourite pairs.
Pity the weren't an 8D. :( Anyway, i'm expecting a new pair of shell cordovan shoos this week and are expecting another one in January. l like shell because it feels luxury and looks like the leather l always dreamed about, + it's low maintainance and can be punished.
l'm not sure if l like the spade soles or not, but l do love the effect of the exotic leather. looks quite a well made shoo too.
All of those old shoes posted by Marc look well made. Factories really took the time to make shoes well in those days. lt really is wonderful seeing all the...
l feel your pain. Good slippers are hard to get and they are very expensive for what you get. Why are companies charging $700 for slippers with glued soles, it's crazy.
Those Bostonian's look very well made. l'm amazed at how you find all these vintage shoos. l wish l had a load of vintage. :(
Also: lots of great shoos posted in this thread. l wish l owned them ALL.
l think many internet gentlemen would be shoo icons in their town, we'd have the most shoos per bloke and the best ones. When it comes to towns and shoos, many of us are big timers. l think Alan C may be becoming big time too, maybe even very big time. l bet Alan has the most shoos in his...
