Bruce Millar says that the waist of the shoe is very 50's. The 40's waists were quite different; i'll post pics of some of my NOS 40's army shoes soon. l might even post my 30's shoes that l wore many many days to Uni, they were my grandfathers and fit me exactly.
Sorry l didn't P.M, it's...
A cut and paste from Film Noir Buff forum.
Here’s a pair of vintage shoes l picked up last week. These are Packard shoes, an American company that went out of business in the late 50’s. Bruce Millar says the shoes were probably made in the 50’s, but could have been made as early as the...
An 1867 Syrian ceremonial dress shoo for children:
1967 Australian handmade boot. Anyone know why the tassles are like that? lt looks like a mop on the end of a shoo. lol
lt's big ugly brother. 1967.
A shoo l photographed today:
l love the decorative buttons on the side and the austerity broguing, what a hoot. lol
lf l owned it, i'd wanna wear it to work. lol
l would go for Church's for real quality, Cheaney might be a good option too. l'd forget about C&J, Grenson and especially Trickers.
C&J = thin insole, + the benchgrade C&J insole is one of those mashed jobs...glued and mashed leather. Blah.
Grenson = terrible insole material (mostly mash...
l could have gotten J&M Handmade NOS black spade wingtip shoes in my exact size at Bennies once. l still cry about missing out. :( When l rang up to get the pair sent out l was told it had been recently sold. Someone on Style Forum told a new poster about it and he snagged it. :rage:
A bunch of Marc's spade shoos have the double stitching around the broguing. l've only ever seen that done on AE brogues.
Alan C: your making me jealous. Wish l had Nettletons...makes me sick.
l don't know about overseas, but in Oz cobblers are very poorly trained. l hear that cobblers from malls have about two hours training before they are let lose on the publics shoos. Most of them are only capable of simple glue jobs.
Being as mass factory like AE, l highly doubt they would do it, even if it was a custom order. They are factory workers, not shoemakers, they need to follow an ordered procedure. l wish you luck.
All the spade sole lasts angle in sharpely at the toebox. lmpossible for a person like myself to...
G'day mate!
Nice shoos, but l think you need to get rid of them unfortunately. NOTHING can be done to make them fit.
Over time they could effect the way you walk. ln other words...they could end up deforming you because you won't be doing your natural walk. Think about it: 10,000 steps a...
A really interesting boot. A balmoral wingtip that looks to be blake rapid stitched, could be ltalian origion. Really close stitching of the soles, similar to how many old shoos are stitched.
