Hello @daw, I am 6'1" and 220 pounds. Usually I wear a 46L or 48L jacket, depending on the maker but this is a 46 regular and the posted measurements were spot on so I hit the ol' "buy-it-now" button and I'm glad I did. The jacket has wide shoulders (21.5") but is not overly loose in the body...
Just picked up this 1980's vintage Willis & Geiger horsehide A-2 off the 'bay in mint condition for about a hundred bucks. Best fitting A-2 I've ever owned. Very comfy!
The knits, the bemberg rayon lining, the zipper, the leather, all are in as-new condition. The horsehide is a perfect...
While in Maryland, we visited Fort McHenry, where Francis Scott Key penned "The Star Spangled Banner" during the War of 1812. Getting a lot of mileage in my LW G-1.
Nice G-1! You can find very good replacement cuffs and waistband sets on eBay for $27.50 from a seller who's screen name is lb4041j; I've purchased many replacement knits from him and they are excellent quality.
My wife and I signed up for a historical H.P. Lovecraft walking tour around Brooklyn to visit HPL's "old haunts". I wore my US Authentic G-8 Raider jacket (and brought my trusty Mk VII "Indy" bag).
You mention a "right hand pocket" and "side belts"; sounds like a B-3 rather than an Irvin.
Like others have also stated, I cannot access the linked images to view the jacket.
After sporting my ELC A-2 yesterday, I'm back in a G-1 today for a tugboat voyage through NY Harbor. Jacket is a 1986 Orchard, size 48L with a brass Buzz Rickson escape whistle added.
Thanks @El Marro! The ELC .50 cal A-2 is a superb jacket and it fits me like a glove. The weather today here in NJ was sunny and hot, 86 degrees F. I went to the air show at 9am when it was just bearable to wear a leather jacket. I was the only one crazy enough to wear one; everyone else was in...
You're right @nick123 but it was a really warm day and a fur-collared G-1 might have been a bit too warm. The Avenger was, to me, the coolest plane there (although there was also a B-17 and a P-51).
September 12, 2017, the official book launch of "Dust to Deliverance" by Jessica DuLong, a collection of interviews and stories of the many boat captains and crews and their actions on 9/11. The event was held aboard the working museum ship JOHN J. HARVEY (1934 FDNY Fireboat) here in NYC. Since...
